Aww hugs TMD...I do think weddings these days have got ridicuous!! People just have no idea do they eh! Whe I went to a celebration recently people were just splashig the cash & I was just sitting there thinking "flippin heck I'm spending two weeks food budget!" while other just merrily spend away but it did at the same time make me feel proud that I no longer do that & it was almost like looking at me as I was before and making me see properly how foolish that was. Sorry slight ramble but do you see what I mean? Yes we do have to spend at times but think of how far we have come meanwhile...
    We WILL get there.
Some days it does feel never ending and an impossible task because its so relentless and so flipping LONG but just think ever penny that comes off is a step closer to freedom....hug hugs to the battle weary...

Hi Everybody! Hope you're all OK. End of the month approaching and I've 60p to last me til Monday! Might be able to squeeze £10 out of the bank. DH has told me that this is the month for us turning round and for him being paid, so we can reduce the debt. I have my doubts - been like this for too long now, but hopefully we'll get going soon and my target of debt free by London 2012 will come good! (Although I was debating as to whether Glasgow 2014 would be more realistic, but I've got to be positive!)

  • Morning.

TMD - completely understand your predicament re weddings. We also have to attend a wedding in Ireland, have had to pay for flights, hotel, wedding present and we haven't even thought about what we are going to wear. They have lots of things planned before and after the wedding as well  When we married a few years ago we laid on the transport and had that much wine from the wholesalers no one had to spend a single penny - I think this wedding will set us back about £500 at least

Am hoping for a realtively cheap day today, hopefully get paid tomorrow then I can pay off the monthly debts and put my signature in :D

  • Thanks everyone - you may just stop me venturing onto the Bankruptcy Boards a little while longer. I've got the number for CAB pinned to my PC ready to make enquiries but I will feel that i've really let myself down (and my beloved Dad R.I.P. would turn in his grave, God Bless him) if I go down that route.

Jelly Babies - how bizarre if you are at the same wedding. The one we're going to is in Portrush/Portstewart area.

  • Not sure where our wedding is, all I can remember is it's in May, will have to ask DH. If we are at the same wedding we can sit in the corner with a flask of stuff brought from home ;) see I have a plan on that score already, no way am I spending money on alcohol after the huge amount we have spent so far.

TMD if its any help your debt is less than mine and its just lil old me paying mine off! It IS hard slog but theres no reason why we shouldnt get there. Even if you went bank you would still feel the impact due to negative credit etc for years plus this way you get the immense satisfaction (which in my wildest imaginings will be fantabulous!) of paying it off along with the rest of us!
oo wouldnt itbe funny if you were both at the same wedding!! Do find out! (nosy cow me!!)

I think I'm considering it more and more coz OH is impatient and wants everything now. I USED to be like that but I've got an ever-glowing LBM which keeps me in check. He does his bit now by taking packed lunches, suggesting going walking/canoeing etc., to have NSDs but its simply the long slog which drags us down. I don't think he'll ever have his LBM.
