  • Having thought about this and skimmed through the currents accounts part of the forum I think I will leave it be. I will swallow my pride and end the hissy fit with FD!

Thanks for your input. Interest rate may be good but these are our bills they deal with and I've been out off A&L now. I do have an overdraft with them so once I've cleared that I think I will close it and stick to something I am confident with. Even if they are above themselves!

I dont know if you saw the phne rage prog the other day 1 step?!! FD on it and I was told by someone who works for the black horse that they all aspire to FD service...I think ANY bank would be stroppy if you were late TBH and possibly to expet more is a wee bit unrealistic?!! :) I have three accounts - main current account, separate DDM & savings - bill money goes into ddms, any cash at the end of the month swept to savings & whats left is mine! Works well & I havent had charges since I started that wee system! I know where I am all the time & dont worry about bills - they're sorted! Plus it has a 250 o/d on it so the months where more go out its covered...HTH?
Wow suzie - wish I could pay £500 a month extra off! Go girl! Grocery budget certainly is an eye opener! The longer you are a DFW the more you realise how much nicer hmemade is plus how much you save by home cooking!!

  • You are right ISOM. I didn't see that programme but it sounds as though it was good. Anyway on a brighter note, I get my yearly bonus this month! yay! So that will def keep any timing issues right down!

anyway got a stack of paperwork to do and a hubby in bed with a severe migraine so trying to tip toe round the house. Not an easy feat for me as I have the tact and agilty of a herd of elephants lol! :o

  • A& L will be a good bank when you are always in credit by at least a months outgoings. That way you don't have any fear of being in an un official overdraft. Our credit record is so poor that we can't get an overdraft and this is my real bone of contention with all banks. If I had £10,000 in credit I wouldn't need an overdraft but if I'm on the breadline then I need one, even £50 would do but if I go overdrawn for say £2 they bang me for £35 in charges. If I had the £50 od then I wouldn't go overdrawn but that way they wouldn't get their charges. Also if they are refusing to pay out the charge refunds before the court case settlement why do they still charge then before the court case settlement?
..... AND finally one question, why do banks lend you an umbrella when it's not raining? I could tell you a joke about banks but it's very rude and crude so I won't.

What? Why do the Irish call their currency the Punt?

Because it rhymes with "Bank Manager"...

CC you may want to anonomise your last post - if AW is watching he may be less than happy that you have named him on a public forum...just a thought? Can sympathise with the O/D situation - thankfully FD give you £250 free o/d for both of my current accounts (ddm & day to day) so havent paid o/d charges for years...may be worth looking at?

Thanks, ISOM. Mind you, you should have seen what I put on the business website about him and the bank... That certainly ruffled the feathers and I got a letter to remove the "slander and untruths" lol. still hurts but thanks anyway...

ltm07 (115) welcome ltm! Tell us a bit about you!

Can understand the frustration CC but you do need to be careful - you dont want someone taking legal action against you to add to your worries....why not have a look at the reclaiming bank charges thread?!!
