Mine too! But I have been proactive this week. After my bank kindly charged me for going over my limit (mistimed dd's first time in years) I decided to have my wages and dd's moved to A&L and just use my old bank account for debt payments. Any extra work and quidco goes in there anyway so to keep it all seperate will be easier.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to move dd's etc? I am anticipating a lot of stress! If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T

1 step I have a first direct account & they are FAB! Never had a bad thing to say about them &if they do owt wrong they give you dosh! Think they are doing a 100 join up & they sort all the DDM's for you & even ring to check theyre all correct! While they dont have the best interest rates the service is stress free...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hello ISOM
I actually want to move from FD! I have been with them for a zillion years and whenever I have had financial problems they have been so snooty and condesending (sp) I feel like a guilty 4 year old. Every other financial institution has been as good as gold with me and treated me like an adult.
I already have the A&L account and they actually pay ME interest for being in credit! And a wee bit more than FD too. Which is why I just wanted to leave all the debt payments with FD and have my "normal life" with A&L.
Does that make sense? If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T

I wouldn't pi$$ on A&L if they were on fire.......... I think that sums up my thoughts on A&L. They were and continue to be very unhelpful and have charged me over £600 so far since May last year for going overdrawn when I wasn't. Their trick is to list all the debits first then the credits. so imagine I have £300 of DD's and have a balance of £100. I put in 250 so my balance is £350 then come dd's day, for me it was about 10 dd's would come out and all would be listed. and because the credits were listed on the account, and I emphasise listed after the debits it would look as if the dd's had took me into overdraft then the account goes back into credit with my money. The result is that I got charges for each dd where as if the credits appeared before the DD's then they would all be paid.
I've complained to the FOS about these. Be very careful if you don't have a good surplus at the end of the month.0 -
Thanks for my number ISOM, currently we are aiming to pay £500 per month to CC on top of min pays. I have snowballed & have them in order of %interest. We are both S/E with 3 DD's in their 20's & all at college/uni (where did I go wrong? why aren't they earning any money?????)
Have remortgaged for 5 year fixed term @ 6.2%, best we could get on our earnings.
Have switched elec (no gas supply) & phone/BB is with Talk Talk.
Use Quidco etc for money back, have also done some ebaying but find that very patchy. Do the Grocery Challenge that thread has been a real eyeopener.
Constantly look for low % BT also, but due to high debt not alway possible to find them, phew, off to get ready for my niece's 1st birthday, by for now,

Hmm I see your point. My wages go in mid month and my dds are at the beginning of the month.
Has anyone else had problems with A&L?If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
