Have been following this thread very closely over the last few months and like many I just didn't keep any tabs over budgets or cash spending to begin with when I left uni just over 5 years ago.. I just carried on living like a student when really I should have been saving or at least paying off the debts that I had run up, instead of spending more!! I consolidated (twice!!) once for nearly £9k and then for £15k over three years later-that was in late 2006 and I guess it was around this time that I had a 'mini' lightbulb moment in that I actually realised for the first time I had huge debts, which I needed to sort out or else I was going to be in deep s*&t...
It was only last year that I stumbled across the site that I saw the opportunity to not only talk about it but also to set myself the challenge to clear the lot asap!!! So with a positive mindset and you guys I am hoping to be debt free by summer 2010 when I will be 30...Fingers crossed!!Debt at lightbulb moment (June 2007) was £31,738.19Debt as of 1st January 2010 was £21,905.82
Current debts total as of July 2014 £4,3000 -
Great news!!!! Applied for a Citi Card a few weeks back and had nearly given up hope of getting a response but found out today that I've been accepted and they have given me a £3750 limit with 5.8% LOB with no balance transfer fee payable!!! Well pleased as my Cap One 0% deal finishes next month!!!Debt at lightbulb moment (June 2007) was £31,738.19Debt as of 1st January 2010 was £21,905.82

I have been so lazy this week, have been off work ill - don't think i've been out the door since sunday!
On the plus side, I haven't spent any money, and have been researching money making schemes like bingo and mb, ready for joining the 'make £10 a day in March' challenge.
Everyone else ok?*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
Hi Numpty
fingers crossed that the confirmation will come soon, £55 a month is pretty hefty saving - my maths is rubbish, but isn't that like £600 a year? Awesome saving to chuck at another debt maybe?*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
Thanks PG
They only offered it for 3 months, but first thing they've offered after 6 months of me asking and telling them i couldn't afford minimum payments, told a lie they offered to accept payment of £90, but still hit me with late charges and then refunded them when i called, and me being a numpty the only chargable call on phone bill was to them , should've called from workPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869Numpty,Not sure why but I'm crying. I'm a Sainsbury's Lambrusco light myself, about once a month  . The rest of the time it's slowly working through a very old bottle of Sarsparilla or water. I know how to have a good time :rotfl: :rotfl:
February started out being a tougher month than January in terms of spending/not spending, but was eased by a few sales on Amazon. Am waiting for the rent and CT increases to come through for March, so I can have my 10 minute panic attack then settle down  I reckon it will be April before I settle into my moneysaving lifestyle properly and for the longterm.
