I constantly dream about my DFD! I currently spend £1000.00 per month on normal repayments off my debts - imagine having that extra every month! x x

Ditto - I dream about the day that I can enjoy the £1300 minimum a month i throw at mine. I am hoping for a DFD of October 2009 but failing that I should hit April 2010 at the latest (please please please). I might have a big party the month after I get debt free. I don't usually like celebrations in my honour (like birthdays and stuff) but for this I may make an exception:rotfl:(and then save like a demon)

Oh glorious beacon in the distance.....

(NB if I paid the minimum payments as set by the credit companies and didn't overpay I would actually be dead prior to clearing the debt)
£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

  • I just reran it to get the DFD again and the calculator runs out after 100 years - lol

That is what happens when you let your barclaycard creep up to £24.9% and only pay the minimum each month!!!! I consider my lesson well learned

  • Hi,
MIT my DFD is the same as yours Sept 2013! Hopefully I can make it sooner. :j

Got into this mess in a variety of ways. Tried to support myself when I left uni, despite being paid rubbish, because I didn't feel it was right for my parents to keep paying. Changed jobs several times (about 19!), OH out of work several times due to injury and redundancy, sometimes for up to 6 months at a time. Moved house frequently, landlords frequently kept the deposit, and a couple of ex-housemates stiffed me for their share of bills. Had an unauthorised OD that bank kept adding charges to and then they tried to reduce each time I was paid, leaving me with barely enough to pay the rent. Obviously there was a certain amount of spending on things I and OH wanted, especially more recently, furniture, holidays, clothes, nights out. It all adds up! To be honest it is not rocket science, and I haven't got the horrible circumstances that some posters on these boards have - I'm just a muppet (hopefully soon to be an ex-muppet!)

BUT it is going to stop. I am determined to maintain (and increase where possible) my current payments and start to make serious inroads into the older debts. I have asked for advice about a couple of older debts that might be statute barred on my personal thread - hopefully I can find out whether I need to factor paying them into my plans. ;)

Have a good day all, I really must leave for work or I'll be late!

  • Just caught up! Wee confession - have never done the snowball calculator (wel dd once but it made me feel physically sick) as know it would depress me rather than motivate me IYKWIM! I know I'm pretty much doing my best & cant do much more without actualy goiing to live in a commune with no electricity and growing my own rice (ok slight exaggeration perhaps!!)..
Will get there - just going to take time! Theres a few of us about until 2013/4 - my DFD is then because of the loans which are front loaded. I may pay one off early but have no hope of paying both of and no actual benefit to me if I did! Much better to have an extra in savings but psch would be a boost to at least have on & the CC's paid off! Hugs all!
