  • Truly Madly Deeply-have cut right back on the spending since xmas including small things like making lunch everyday instead of just stopping at the local BP garage (£3 per day saved!) and cutting down on my weekend spending (like big sat nights out!!) I have to pay around £800 per month towards my debts anyway so hoping to make another £200 per month from this year-fingers crossed!!!!

Truly a miserable month for me; weather and moneywise. Started the month quite positive. First ever budget and even managed a spreadsheet with formulas  First two weeks were ok, then it slowly unravelled: comfort eating and a few unplanned spends. I ended up overdrawn by almost £100 which cancelled out the council tax money I thought I'd have to reduce my debts. Oh well

The upside was good though. I took lunches and coffee into work most days, and had more low spend days than high ones, including one or two No Spend Days :D. I also realised that once I take food to work, I don't really need to bring lots of cash with me, so I'll be continuing with that in February.

I also realised that a monthly budget is a great thing to have and I've tried to list EVERYTHING I have to pay out or think I have to pay out in February. It will be a very tight month but, thankfully, it's a short month so I won't have to suffer too much. I hope

  • It does seem to be the end weeks/days that add up in spends.

Good news in OH passed well failed really the medical so dont have that to worry about. Dont think I coud have faced that battle again. Hope he will find a small part time job soon to 1) give him something to do other than housework and kids 2) help him meet new friends and 3) possibly find a job he may be able to do long term and therefore not need the IB.
