  • Just finished off the end on Jan's loan and credit card DD and although I didn't break £1k was pretty close...! Been a tough month moneywise but well pleased to have made a decent start to 2008!!! How much has everyone else managed to chip off this (long!!) month??
    Debt at lightbulb moment (June 2007) was £31,738.19
    Debt as of 1st January 2010 was £21,905.82
    Current debts total as of July 2014 £4,300
  • Well done Jonnyboy80. How on earth did you manage that much? Sorry, very nosey! - those sort of financial dents are well out of my reach at the moment, but maybe one day.

  • Truly Madly Deeply-have cut right back on the spending since xmas including small things like making lunch everyday instead of just stopping at the local BP garage (£3 per day saved!) and cutting down on my weekend spending (like big sat nights out!!) I have to pay around £800 per month towards my debts anyway so hoping to make another £200 per month from this year-fingers crossed!!!!

  • Thank gawd January is over. Dont know that Feb wil be much better but at least as someone said it is nice and short x
    5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
    Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
    By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00

    Truly a miserable month for me; weather and moneywise. Started the month quite positive. First ever budget and even managed a spreadsheet with formulas :eek: First two weeks were ok, then it slowly unravelled: comfort eating and a few unplanned spends. I ended up overdrawn by almost £100 which cancelled out the council tax money I thought I'd have to reduce my debts. Oh well :cool:

    The upside was good though. I took lunches and coffee into work most days, and had more low spend days than high ones, including one or two No Spend Days :D. I also realised that once I take food to work, I don't really need to bring lots of cash with me, so I'll be continuing with that in February.

    I also realised that a monthly budget is a great thing to have and I've tried to list EVERYTHING I have to pay out or think I have to pay out in February. It will be a very tight month but, thankfully, it's a short month so I won't have to suffer too much. I hope :think:

  • It does seem to be the end weeks/days that add up in spends.

    Good news in OH passed well failed really the medical so dont have that to worry about. Dont think I coud have faced that battle again. Hope he will find a small part time job soon to 1) give him something to do other than housework and kids 2) help him meet new friends and 3) possibly find a job he may be able to do long term and therefore not need the IB.

    I did a classic the other day - instead of paying £34 off one of my cards I paid £134 - doh!!!! fortunately I had the money earmarked for something else but never mind.

    anyway hubby is home better do his tea x
    If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
