    Hello Happytogetdebtfree

with what I earn, if I control my spending and discipline myself I should be able to pay off everything in 18 months. I am going to look at ways of making extra cash by selling DVD's CD's and possibly ebay. I did try ebay before and ended up owing more money than I actually made due to the fees, so I'm not sure.

Thank you for your advice, that is exactly what I have done with my spreadsheet. I knew the formula all along, it was actually putting it into practice that was the problem. Now I have admitted the problem, hopefully these forums will motivate me. I am so impressed with what members have written, you are all very inspiring and encouraging. I hope that I can follow in your footsteps.

    :)

  • I didn't realise, just how much I'm paying, per month, toward my debts.

Just added them up and

OTOH, that's how much extra I'll have, each month, once they are paid off.

I know what you mean, but once we have paid it all off, think about putting the same amount in a savings account and play the banks at their own game.

I multiplied the amount by 12 then divided it by 365 to work out the daily rate.

I don't why I did this, I was bored and thought it would make the pain of it bearable, it didn't.

  • I shall definitely be putting some, not all, in an ISA.

£200 pm should cover my insurance (car and house contents), tax, MOT, servicing, etc. and still leave enough for a reasonable holiday.

  • Looking at your total debt figure, that's in the area of what I had, when I took out my current bank loan.

Approx 44 months later (took a 1 month payment holiday, when my car was stolen :( ) and, finally, the end is in sight.

I applied for a loan but was turned down. I'm not sure why. I've decided just to take it on the chin and pay everything up once and for all. The temptation for me is spending. Hence coming on here for support. I find if I set myself challenges and goals I tend to stick to them.

I've signed up to a few challenges today and feel really positive already. This thread has been such a help to me, I know I can do this.

  • Hi mummy, you will be surprised what some of the challenges can do for momentum, i am in the pay off as much as you can challenge :) Not having any debt will have such an impact on my own mothly income and outgoings. It will be nice to have a reasonable surplus :) xx

Thanks for this, I've spent all day dipping in and out of these forums, they are a wonder of information, inspiration and I actually feel really positive and liberated about clearing my debt.

I have started my debt free diary and didn't spend a thing all day, so I feel really good about that too.

I am hoping to get a good night sleep without any anxiety issues as this is first time I have felt in control for a long time.

I am so grateful for this site and pleased I have joined up.
