Can I join please? I'll have paid off 2 storecards Dec-12, my overdraft May-13, and 4 credit cards Sep-14 - £27k+ as of today. On top of that we have a secured loan (£45k, due to run till Jan-2025) plus a mortgage (£125k due to run till June-2028) - gosh it's scary seeing it like that. Once I've zapped the unsecured debt, I'm planning on building an emergency fund to cover 6 months' living expenses which I should manage by December 2015. Then it's all systems go on overpaying the mortgage by £10-12k/year and knocking a few years off it. Don't think the secured loan allows overpayment - they're not very helpful with their customer service, so I think that one will just run while we save enough to pay it off in one fell swoop. So definitely a longhauler here

Hi and welcome to the boards. I look forward to watching your journey with you. I too have a secured loan it only allows 1k overpayment per year or a final and full payment lol. Il be tackling that once all the unsecured is cleared yippeeee x

I haven't updated on here for ages but on the DF by Xmas 2012 thread I'm now up to £17,045 / £58,000 paid off which is just over 29%. I'm hoping to get to 33.3% by xmas so my debt free date will be at some point towards the end of 2014 but not sure it will happen!

Im sure it will spag bol, well done on what you have paid off so far. Im hoping 2014 will be when i am clear of all my negative wealth. My spreadsheet sees May 2013 has my negative wealth free date of my unsecured. It will then be time to focus on the secured, i dont want me to take my eye off the ball until its all gone x

Hi All, Getting to the end of the year and I think we'll hit 16% of our total debt cleared this year. We're down to sub £40K now. Welcome to the new people, and I'm going to try to post a bit more to give me the incentive to work a bit harder next year!

another reasonably good month for me the debt continues to slowly come down and for the third month in row my DFD has stayed steady at April 2016 (first time in ages that it has not got further away!!!)

Only 41 months to go......

Yay well done everyone im sure it will move faster the closer we get to our dfd yippeee. Yes this thread often goes quiet it would be nice to see how people are getting on x

How much have you paid off so far bedsit bob ?, i hate the slow months it really makes you feel the impact of what having negative wealth can do to the mindset xx
