  • Hi there, can I join please? I don't have a DFD yet as I'm not on a DMP - think it would be good to work one out for myself. Then I can work on bringing it forward.........not sure how to work it out though as have so many different items and rates of interest!! Can anyone suggest the best way to work it out? Is it the same as the snowball calculator? (I've never done that either!:rotfl:)

We use the snowball calculator. It's not completely accurate as our cards have different rates (as we started off with fixed life of balances, then spent on them ) so I find I sometimes have to amend the interest amounts, but it's a good game to play, to try and beat the figures they give!

Dont be too hard on yourself when you need new things, enjoy the clothes shopping and start saving vouchers again for clothes /:) xx

Yeah, I know, I kinda resent it though.

You and me both, but sometimes you need to spend. We had to buy a new bed this year as ours was so old and battered that I was getting backache. It cost nearly £1000, which was a huge extravagance, but I'm sleeping amazingly now, I feel better, I'm more awake at alert at work and actually now I consider that bed an investment in our future. It'll last us 10 years, which works out as 27p a night.

That's a good way of thinking about it.
    Mind you, £1000

  • I need a new bed at some point, which bed did you get ?at 27p a night it makes it sound good :-)... BR I'm much the same unexpected costs crop up when you don't need them. This year we dealt with those costs as they happened, however next year I have created a specific dedication to monthly budgeting :-)....and I'm pretty pleased with myself for it lol lol x
