Well done you that's great :j

Thank you I'm feeling much more positive - We still owe so much but that's half of the smaller debts and brings my grand total to (around) £5700 paid off in these past 18 months :D

  • Hi, can we have a number please - just joined today! Had LBM at the beginning of July when realised couldn't get any more credit and wasn't going to be able to meet our minimum monthly payments or buy anything until next payday... (which was 2 weeks away at that point)! Have now arranged DMP through CCCS which is starting 1st August 2011 and are looking forward to dealing finally with our debts.

We're married, with 3 lovely children and a dog, both of us have good jobs, but our money problems really started when our overtime got cancelled in August 2008 (prior to that had been able to do as much as we wanted to), but we stupidly carried on spending at the same rate - now £40,000+ owing and a very long way to go to be debt free!!!!!!! Look forward to meeting you all!

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I can't believe how at ease i'm feeling now my debts all under control!

I'm also on a weight loss 'journey' at the moment ISOM so i'm all ears to any money saving/weight loss tips if you have any. My only one so far is buy fruit and veg locally rather than at the supermarket, I save loads and get bags of healthy scran too! But you pro's probably already know this haha

Hi, I haven't been here for a while but thought I should come back and work out exactly what I owe and come up with a strategy for paying it all off.
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

  • Hello :) I would like to join too.

I have a list of goals I'd like to achieve in the next 3 years (see sig), to get into a position where me and OH could start thinking about having a family.

I have an £11k loan which, as one of my goals says, I'd like to pay off a year early (currently 4 years left). I also have a student loan and mortgage but I try not to think about those too much lol! OH has paid off his student loan but owes around £8k to a DCA (a hangover from his youth when he was incredibly bad with money), which he pays off £100 a month. Neither of us have anything on credit cards.

So, that's me! I'm really looking for general support and any hints on getting the debt paid off ASAP!

I spoke to my loan company and they say I can pay off extra each month or just pay off a lump sum as and when I am able to. This is good news to me as I always thought that loans had to be paid off either in full or over the agreed term.

First of all I need to pay off companies I owe money to for our barn conversion then credit cards then the loans. ATM I am only making minimum payments on cards so need to sort out making a slightly higher payment. Luckily we only owe £3000ish on cards.

Hello again. Well have done my Snowball (quite frightening, but enlightening). This is probably the first time I have ever totalled up all my debts and looked at them properly.

I have the bug now, and can't wait to be DF - think I'll have long wait mind you. My snowball says it will be 2018! However, onwards and downwards. Little amounts here and there paid back ultimately mean the balances are coming down all the time, and that's the main thing.

Love all the support on this forum, especially this thread, and I have to say, once the debt-free way of thinking gets you, it becomes really really addictive.
