  • Aaargh MOT - the bane of us all! Sorry to hear about that annibee - I hope your oh and brother can take the sting out of the tail at least.

Well we got a bed after shopping all damn day yesterday. We were all exhausted afterward - how my oh managed being 9 months pregnant I will never know! Thankfully Abi was so tired that when we put her in the new bed she just fell asleep. I have a feeling we won't get so lucky tonight.

On another bad money note our laptop seems to be slowly dying. We've had it five years, which for a laptop isn't bad. The power connection seems to be damaged so it doesn't charge the battery well - we're on one hour bursts then we have to switch off. As much as its something of a 'luxury', we simply can't live without the internet - or this forum for that matter!! Or ebay!!!! We're going to have a look and see what we can get before this one dies on us and we're stuck. Therefore, if you don't hear anything from me for a while you know whats happened! If it doesn't rain it pours......

Hope everyones having a nice weekend.

Oh dear about the laptop!!!! At least you can order one online go through a cashback site and get some money towards it i guess!!

I dont feel laptops are a luxury more a necessity in this day and age so dont be too harsh on yourself. My oh's laptop is about to die too but luckily we have mine and a very slow desktop so we wont need to purchase one.

Bought the brake pads for me car which was only 30 quid so not too bad and brother in law is coming to fix today, the other failing points have been fixed so not all bad. Just annoying that ill have to pay for MOT again on Monday grrrr. But then as car will have 12 months MOT and 12 months tax i might sell it and go for a cheaper car. so might make a little pocket money.

surfing net today to find out how to get 8k (or part of it) to pay off a personal loan.....off a family member and they want it in February!

Hope everyone else is having a cheaper weekend!!!!

    Hello one and all!

Fixed car and had it retested the guy was nice and only charged us a tenner so all in all cost 40 more than planned (30 for brake pads and 10 to retest). Still annoying but could have been a lot more. OH is on annual leave with our lo for 2 weeks so we'll save on his travel/lunches which is good :)

Off to find something to eat now as am starrrrving!!!

Hope everyones days are going well :)

well, didnt quite meet my targets this weekend - stuck to my guns and didnt go away on the weekend trip, nor did I succumb to the dinner invitation on Friday night (in fact didnt spend anything this weekend on social activities - go me!) but overspent on groceries and didnt get round to the ebay thing as too busy fighting off hangover (friend brought wine to drown our sorrows - ended up watching dirty dancing and woke with sore head!).

Started debt diary thing today which I hope will keep me focussed - first challenge is to make daily payment to credit card based on what I have saved in not spending my usual £10 per day on coffee/pastries/lunch every day. And took back another unnecessary purchase to the shop and got £19 back on my card...

  • HHm where do i start!!!

well i owe 35000 on my mortgage, and i have 14500 in debts! i have been on CAP debt plan for the last 5 years, all was going well untill 2009 when my hubby got made redundant.

hubby is self employed as a handyman but he hasnt really do work at the mo, he used to be a labourer on building sites.( he loved his job)

i work on minimum wage as a nursery nurse for the local church!! (i love my job too)

all was going well till our car broke!!! which is bit of a worry at the moment as all money goes to the debt plan. tom is saving all money he gets to pay for car think its going to be around 1500!
