    hi have a question
At the moment my credit payments are roughy £400 per month. My friend talked to me today saying that with CCS (I think) I could reduce this to maybe £50. At the moment I woudl have to work about 3/4 days overtime to afford my debt repayments. I think its better to carry on paying my £400 and see my debts reduce quickly.
  • Hi soma i dont know how cccs works, so i dont know what difference it would make to payments, if your comfortable doing the overtime do it for now ... however if its not sustainable maybe speak about reducing payments or submit a soa to the credit card companies ?? xx hope that helps xx

  • ***She sneaks in quietly.... :o:o:o Hello happy, hope you've had a good couple of weeks-have you been on holiday?
Many apologies for my 'awolness'. I didn't want to have to update my sig, so have been avoiding mse :wall:
I knew it was a bad idea my increasing my debt in order to get low interest rates-I'm so rubbish at seeing the longview :( It will definitely be so much better for the coming year & means I can pay off a lot more instead of paying it on interest which is great. Still can't help getting so depressed though, having worked so hard to get my debts down since march and now they've all gone up again  Must look forward...must look forward...:p

  • Morning all! :j Hope you're all having a good start to the weekend?
It's raining here and I need to put my washing on the line! Boo :(
Will have to put it on airers in the flat. Not bothering with housework - we're off to boyfriend's mums for the day and want to make an early start. Boyfriend stayed at a mate's house last night so I can't see him getting there early! lol

My mum sent me a fantastic news article that arrived in the post this morning to help me with the argument I'll be facing again this year with my landlords - mould. This has made me feel very positive. Plus have got an offer letter to one cc company to post today, and have worked out what the status of my credit report will be when me and boyfriend want a joint mortgage (it will have really improved!) so no need to stress there :D

Had a busy week seeing friends and another busy week ahead planned. Drawn up a budget for my boyfriend which he'll stick to easily. This month he'll pay off his cc so no more interest going out on that (he could've paid it ages ago but never bothers to look into these things!). Still waiting for his replacement provisional licence so he can get driving (good job he has me to organise it and his mum to buy him a car eh?!). Will get him to open 2 savings accounts during the week and I'm going to think seriously about opening one for the kids (I found a great one which pays about 6% interest and you can put in as little as £10 per month, which I could do by SO/DD and not miss!)

Need to do some tidying & organising round the flat - boyfriend's mum bought a cool new pram for baby, but it takes up so much room, especially alongside the new pushchair she bought for my daughter, the double buggy she bought and the pushchair I originally had for dd!!

Overall feel very chatty and positive! Hope you're all in the same mood?

Scooby - I don't know much about 0% cards & maths and stuff (well I'm rubbish at maths so can't get my head round it! lol) but have you written down somewhere how much you'll be able to pay off since getting the new card to how much you'd have done without it? Might be a good way to sort of see 'results', if that makes sense?

Soma - how goes the overtime? Hope it pays enough to see you be able to pay more off the cards. CCCS is great for reducing your payments to creditors, though they confused me when I used their website as I put in actual costs of things and got told it was too much! I used the CAB who gave me template letters etc. But sort of wish I'd stuck with what I was paying, now, due to the hit my credit report took. Still, it's a situation I can handle and that's the main thing.

Happy - hope you're doing ok?

Sunfleur - welcome to the gang! How's the situation with the insurance co?

ISOM - pop back in and say hi!

DFM - tell us about any challenges you're trying! Would love to hear how you're doing?

Babyplumb - great news on the vouchers!

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone but my post is in danger of taking up a whole page of its own lol think I should stop! See you soon, I hope! :D

  • Hi Soma!

The CCCS & the credit reports stuff is where obviously reduced payments won't be in line with what companies want, they send default notices & defaults are then registered with the credit reference agencies. This would happen when any payments are reduced, usually, but not always. It's about weighing up can you afford to pay & do you need to keep your credit rating OR do you really need to lower your payments & can you take this hit?

I admit I am lucky - when I took advice from the CAB (same as CCCS would advise, re offering token/lower payments) the companies who could've issued defaults didn't. Sadly the companies who did were in the wrong due to accounts being in dispute, though I'm hoping to have these removed so maybe it's not a case of 'sadly' so much...

Hi Happy! Great news on the MOT! DIY sounds great & fantastic money saving on the vacuum! I got my boyfriend buy me a new Dyson for my birthday! lol, I've asked for a sewing machine for Xmas!
Sorry about the bad news. Don't know what to say :( Still, glad to see you're still :D

Good Evening Long Haulers. Having an up and down week really. First payment goes out to CCCS tomorrow so knowing we are committed at least for the foreseeable future is both restricting and freeing at the same time if you see what I mean.

The Insurance that we cancelled we received a letter today actually. They said that their insurance ends later this month, despite us telling them that we have cancelled it and that they would be sending us a bill for the last month. So we are resenting the fact that we will have to pay a month for which we are covered already from our new insurers. The new company cover more for half the price! Our goal is to NOT pay anything we don't have to, to not let the banks and other companies get one penny more than they are entitled. This one is just greedy. Our life insurance won't charge us when we cancel them to go with someone else so why should they? Our budget is so tight at the moment that we really resent having to pay this money out - I'm tempted to say get a number and get in line and add it to CCCS! What's one more creditor right? Not going to do that though I don't think LOL (unless we can't eat this month). They may have to wait a while though....

Also another of our creditors is still playing the 'I'll pretend I haven't received your letter or the CCCS letter and act as if we have talked on the phone and tell you what your repayment level is going to be' game. This is incredible LOL The letter made out we had talked to them on the phone then continued to 'hint' that we had agreed to a payment schedule - yeah right - they will be getting a letter refuting this and told to listen to CCCS who are our mouthpiece for at least the foreseeable!

The good news is that we are not getting any calls at the moment - I don't know if this is because they have actually read our letter and stopped calling because we asked them to OR if it is because I took a tip from another thread and went into our accounts and changed our number to a non existent one (o1o1o1o1) or just took our number off! We have now changed from Big Toerags telephone service after 20 years of not understanding their bills at all to a cheaper one. I wonder what excuse they are going to come up with for charging us for calls this last month??? We have paid in advance so it will be fun to see what they come up with...

Monday is the MOT on my car so fingers crossed that nothing is wrong with it. DH's car is poorly and waiting for us to raise some money to pay for it to be fixed. He's back at work in two weeks so we will have to do it quick! Spent some time today sorting some stuff out for a car-boot sale. We have a few things to put in the paper this week too so hopefully will raise some money that way. We have had no money for petrol or cash to do anything anyway this weekend so kept busy. Some money coming in tomorrow. I have never sold anything on ebay although I have bought things from there. I don't know if it's worth the hassle or not - what do you lot think?

Thanks for the welcome to the group. Was feeling a bit horrified last week on reading some of the threads at some of the utterly horrible people on these boards and the nasty things they write. The anonymity is good in some senses but not in others!

Well going back to my drink of wine. Hope you are all having a relaxing Saturday night...
