Please can I join you??????
I need some support to pay off an overdraft £2,600 and a CC at £5,000 both run up thanks to my OH who wanted to move back to the country he was born in.
We are meeting all the payments on time and have a good credit rating, I am anxious to keep it that way. I did not realise now close to the wire we were until I filled in the CCCS on line form.........their allowences for some things are so much higher that I allow in our budget.
I have just changed car insurers, saves £30, every little helps, and also electricity providers, waiting to hear from them. I also changed house insurers when we moved. I have a main bank account from which I pay all the bills by DD. each month I draw housekeeping £140 for the month, diesel £30, OH pocket money £35 from which he pays for his bowls, having his feet done and a couple of other things. I transfer enough money into a savings account to pay all the car expenses, and house insurance in full at renewal so I do not pay extra for monthly payments. £10 for the garden, £10 for treats and £15 for my spending money. £50 for oil for the heating and wood for the wood burner. All except the latter are transferred to accounts I have at Nationwide.
I have just had the tank filled for the winter and we are waiting for half a load of wood to fill up the wood store.
Using money I worked out that we should get the o/d dowm to £1,600 by March, and I overpay every month on The cc which is now in the freezer in a bag fulll of ice. I have just had to replace our fridge freezer which gave up the ghost, I got the cheapest one I could but it still cost me £300+
We grow fruit and veg in a small veg patch at the back of our garden. The garden was a mess and we have had to spend quite a bit on it, but its done now so hopefully the money I am put aside will cover the expenses next year for seed, compost etc......
I know I am weak willed when it comes to money, so I am going to need support at times.......my weakness is fabric for my hobby quilting, but I am not spending anymore on fabric, I have loads to use up. What I have in my sewing account will be to pay for backing etc when I need it. I am trying to save up enough to buy a roll of calico which I can use to back quilts with rather than use other fabric.
I just hope that we do not have a major expense in the next 18 months, I want to get back to being in credit........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Hi Csarina, welcome to the thread! It sounds like you've made a good start.
Using up things you've already got is a great way of saving money, it is so easy for things to build up, so hopefully you can carry on with your quilting whilst clearing out some of your old fabric!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi everyone! Not been on here for a little while. Been really busy and have had one crisis after another! Got quite down about things for a while but have picked myself back up now.
Nice to see so many newbies on this thread! *hello*
We finally decided to find a nursery for my little boy and say "sod it!" to the cost. We have found an AMAZING one which is actually quite cheap. He starts in September and will just be going 9-12 on tuesday and thursday mornings. It will only cost £25 a week and with the extra i am earning from slightly increasing my hours this will be covered. So we will actually be no worse off which is fab!
Talking of the little man - he turns 2 years old in 2 weeks time! I'm so excited!!!! (but still can't believe i will have a 2year old!) We have got him an awesome little playhouse for the garden (which we bought with some vouchers hubby won in a work competition) and lots of books and other toys we have picked up from car boot sales over the past few months.
Hope everyone is well!I'm FINALLY debt free! DFW Long Hauler #227LBM - Jan 2006  March 2006 -£26,725  Apr 2015 - £0!!! :jBaby boy born 1/8/08 Baby girl born 28/6/120 -
Hi Babyplum! That's good news about the nursery, that loads cheaper than I would have thought they cost (I don't have children so don't know!) Hope your little boy has a nice birthday, my niece is 2 and they are so cute at that age!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". We did visit 2 other nurseries that morning that cost £23-£25 for morning session of 8-1 and wouldn't let us have shorter session than that. So i am really chuffed we managed to find the one we did. I'm quite nervous about hi starting but thankfully have a while to get used to the idea.I'm FINALLY debt free!
