Just a little update on the MOT. I paid the bill and got an itemised bill to see what had been done. I must say it is a garage that we have been going to for about 16 years and they are like family to us so we do trust them. However, I noticed that the N/S front wheel bearing had had to be done. This was done April of this year!!! So I rang them and spoke to the main man who said it had actually failed it's MOT on that among other things so he was wondering whether there was a fault on the bearing set they put on in April. He's going to check it out with the lads who did the car..... The O/S front bearing was done last year. He said if it was faulty he may be able to claim for it. Watch this space....

PS can't you tell we are REALLY getting into looking at absolutely everything? In the past I would never have questioned it necessarily.. DH is really getting into spreadsheets and we will end up with one for everything. It was food shopping today and I kept within budget although again I checked the bill from the butchers and found they had charged me 80p too much - of which I will be claiming it back LOL 80p is 80p and we are regular customers! Working on a meal plan for us and batch cooking and freezing.

way to go Sunfleur, I have a spreadsheet too but sometimes I ignore it or its a bit too idealistic
managed to tidy the kitchen and load the dishwasher and got to dance lesson so thats me being productive. Might go and parctice drumming now ( I don't like my neighbours)

hmm thinking that maybe we could do with really looking at food shopping. I think I might create a box this month for all food receipts. It's difficult to cut down as OH is reasonably well off so I can't tell him that I want sky cancelled etc and we have to eat 50p meals. He's happy not meal planning but I think it would be useful.

Happy you didn't say whether the ironing wa enjoyable or not? think I will do some serious clothes sorting today and avoid ironing!

Does your oh not know about your finances? or do you mean he doesnt understand ? why not just say you cant afford the sky and if he wants it he can be the named payer ? ...

I enjoyed the ironing it was a nice feeling knowing it was done lol

OH does know - might ask him after we finish off paying one of my loans together in September. Trouble is sky includes broadband and I use that a lot. I'd still watch the channels if OH paid so it seems fair to split it. Hmmm. I think he will be in a better position financially at the end of teh year so may ask for help then.

Hi everyone, well done on housework guys! And on spotting the car work, sunfleur!
Agree with Happy, Soma. I wish I'd spoken re finances with my OH earlier. He's been a massive help and a great support, he's also very understanding towards my hours of reading/research etc into how to improve our financial situation.
In fact, we opened up a savings account for him this weeeknd, which will be used to save towards the wedding next year! We both feel very grown up! lol

Have left all housework to OH now as I just cannot cope with moving/walking etc. - this pregnancy's wiped me out and yesterday I felt very ill! I could possibly lend him out if he gets bored at home and you need help?! Am gettin a bit bored, tbh. I'm not one for sitting watching films a lot or reading a tremendous amount, though I have just bought several books from the charity shop just in case! Find myself lurking on the forums for a large percentage of the day, learning, and hopefully helping!

I should start looking into recipes for using up fresh fruit & veg to be frozen in our new chest freezer (I can't imagine us wanting to keep cooking for a little while after this baby's born!). I suppose it's something constructive to do....!!!
