Hi all
Just popping in to update. Not much news...dfw wise still not compleatly back but getting there! Have been reasonable at not spending although have started violin lessons which cost but its a lifelong ambition and Ill do my theory with the help of a friend. If we manage to pass grade 5 we can go to a local orchestra which is a lifelong ambition of mine so sommat to work for. Any hints scooby? cant rem what you play?
Also looking for a cheap tent so that i can go away for weekends without spending much as i love camping! I have stove and pans at allotment plus sleeping bag so all I need is blow up mattress and tent! My mum thinks Im mad!
Went for a walk in brecon beacons today which was lovely - lunch and tea were paid for so a free day! Will do it more often and be organised about taking sandwiches!
Hope people are having a good, frugal weekend! Is talisker on hols maybe?
sunfelur it does take time to settle with debt stuff (sometimes i think I am maybe a bit comfy lol!) but hopefully it soon becomes second nature!
Scooby just learn from it and move on...i wont do cheapie stuff again as just think I can then go shopping! Sommat I am not sure will ever change!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Hi Sunfleur!
First off, anything you send to creditors should be sent recorded so they cannot dispute its delivery. I suppose the CCCS can't be forced to adopt this attitude tho!
I'm glad the calls have stopped & I LOVE that you changed your number! Wish I'd thought of that 1 year ago! Brilliant!!
Keeping my fingers crossed for Monday's MOT for you (tho it makes it harder to type!! lol).
Car boot sales are the way to go imo. I used a free paper to sell items for awhile but got fed up with the not-quite-so-pleasant callers I got! Altho I struggle with early mornings now, I've been very lucky with local car boot sales this summer & the previous 2 years. In fact, I'm planning another one as we're having to be ruthless with the kids stuff now! Ebay I despise. It is just my personal opinion, but the buyers on there are not that great, items don't often sell so well, it's very time-consuming & costs more than a car boot! BUT don't rule it out altogether, for some, ebay works out very well. If your initial outlay is low or zero, you might find yourself making huge profits.
I'm also a very addictive person - I ate, slept, and drank ebay when I sold on there! Now, of course, I have MSE... LOL!! :rotfl:I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

Evening ISOM! Spent so long typing I missed ur post!
Fantastic to hear someone interested in the violin (I love to hear instruments being played & think real music cannot be beaten! Do I sound sad and old?! lol)
Have you checked out Argos for reduced tents? Not sure if end of catalogue sale's on but I got a 4 man tent 2-3 years ago for £40 I think and it's doing us proud! Got a new airbed from there the other week, too. £9.99 for a comfy single, and of course handy when guests stay or OH snores! lolI've got nothing else but I've got my family.

Thanks for your opinion CTLOD. If I did decide to try to sell something on Ebay it would just be things I have. Not got the time or inclination to buy anything to sell on there LOL I think the biggest hassle is working out the P & P. I think a lot of people are fed up of paying the high prices of P & P since the Post Office changed how it is worked out too - including me! My friend has talked me into doing a car-boot sale and I've never done one of those either. I haven't got much confidence in selling things. The two times I have tried to sell books (Usborne and DK) I didn't make any money at it LOL The stuff to go in the paper are the bigger items - hope I don't get any idiots coming around though....LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

morning; good advice there climing! Re tent have looked at argos but want a really cheap one so trawling ebay in the hope of a bargain! I am getting alot better at focussing my addictive tendencies by waiting as Im addictive and instant personality! Now I try to set my sights on something and then wait till I get it bargainous price for some things...ie yesterday discovered mums cd player broken and I need one for violin as have to play a cd so will go out and get a bargainous one at tesco today!
For me another thing that Ive tried to do is to see something and then sleep on it overnight - dont always manage it but I sometimes realise I didnt want it - it was just the shopping excitement! Also thought more about the crash that sometimes followed a shopping high...my problem is that happens less than I would likeNerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Morning all!
Hey sunfleur - yea the p&p part of ebay's a real pig. I always charged the cost of postage plus LITERALLY a few pence, say 4-7p on top, for the cost of paper/envelopes (which was obviously a LOT more) but STILL I got rubbish marks and ebay kept telling me to improve!
My OH showed me a great way to sell at car boots - just start talking to the people who visit your stall. Say there's a lady looking at baby/kids clothes. My OH asked her if she was looking for anything specific. She was, and we started picking out the clothes in the size(s) she wanted. We then offered her the bundle for something like £4. If it's CDs you're selling, you can look through for their fave artists/albums etc. You'd be surprised what you can 'talk' people into buying! And you meet some lovely people!
Hello Happy - hope you had a good nights sleep? I know what you mean about the spending, I actively avoid the shops for that very reason!
Morning ISOM! I hope you find that bargain tent! Shame Argos had nothing in. I think ebay's a great place to look, just hope you're not like me and get too tempted by all the accessories that look so appealing... lol!
I LOVE bargain shopping and do the whole 'sleep on it' thing, with everything. Admittedly, tho, shopping doesn't fill me with the happiness it used to and I don't have much energy for it!
Baby clothes are my biggest weakness atm, and my mother in laws! :rotfl:I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

Actually I think this is the lowest day I have had for quite some time. It's not all about the money though there are other more complicated things adding to the mix (not relationship though).
However, DH got an email from the Hellifix to tell him he had a secure email on our account. Of course it told him that they had put the monthly £31 charge onto our overdraft and that from tomorrow we will be paying £5 a day  for being over the limit - they made us go over the limit of course.. They obviously want us to do the telephone them thing - not going to happen. We will write to them pointing out that their charges are unreasonable and they have been asked to stop charges and interest by us and the CCCS because of financial difficulties and been offered a pay-back sum for now. We will be asking for the charges to stop again and we will keep asking them to stop them until either they do or we can't ever pay them back. That's over £155 on a 31 day month:eek:
I know they can do this but they really must be thieves of the highest order and yet it is legal. I may point out that the money they are being offered through the CCCS is actually money we should be using for our DD's health issues but I may leave that for a judge to hear! I know it's just a process and a game to them and I will get over it but not being able to pay our debts is so new to us as we have always been able to pay them. It's hair-raising just thinking of the financial figures involved now but also what they could end up being:eek::eek::eek:
We will be sending these next round of letters recorded delivery too.
Onwards and upwards - can't pay what we haven't got and I still feel that we are doing the right thing and letting CCCS handle this for us for now. Once things settle down and if we up our income we may take them on to start paying down quicker individually. For now we have to get through this month and get the cars legal, working and on the road (they are legal now just need to keep it that way). Two cars may seem a luxury but DD and I would be really isolated if we only had one car as public transport isn't great and even if it was DD wouldn't be able to handle it too well plus the events and venues we need to travel to for home education would take us all day to get there and back. We need all the Social Skills opportunities we can get for DD and having a car is an essential (also for her appointments etc). She receives LR Mob and HR Care so we don't have a motorbility car. DH needs a car as he has to commute between two or three venues for his work.
OK time to see what else I can glean from some of the other threads.LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

You definitely made me laugh - you really ARE the same as my DH LOL Our other bank that we jumped ship from (thank goodness as we don't like Santander) is A & L too and DH was always complaining about Hellifix and A & L and the quick transfer NOT playing ball on the day you wanted to use it and then being charged because the payment was not on time...... I do like looking at my new Co-op card which says 'good with money' - you can dream can't you LOL
Feeling a bit better tonight as spoken to a good friend on the phone. xxLBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010
