I'm (hopefully) not here for too much longer - we're a year into our debt free wannabe plan and are looking at 2.5 more years (2 if we have no blips or have some good fortune). But I still totally know where you're coming from and want to say how nice it is that everyone supports each other thru it.
Think of it the way slimmers do.....DIETING doesn't work, its a short term fix for an underlying problem; you have to completely change your lifestyle, habits and the way you eat (or spend/save in this case). Good luck everyone, we can do it!0 -
Don't worry - am calling them back this arvo to request the offer to be sent by post, to include the words full & final settlement, and to confirm, leaving no doubt, that I will not be chased for anymore money after the £150 is received. Hope they're quick! I'm so excited! lol
Hi missworks2jobs! How have you found your first year? You're right about the diet comparison - I had never looked at it that way so plainly, had just told myself to be satisfied with what I have (and I really am) and not to do it again! lol
I have been teaching my boyfriend about changing his lifestyle, I just wish his mum would jump on board! She spends like there's no tomorrow, even taking out loans in my boyfriends name in the past (he even knew!!) and she seems to think we're rolling in it! She's desperate for us to move closer to her (it'd be nice but we can't afford it!) and arranges to see us only to change plans last minute and get us to visit her place instead - it costs us £12-£15 a time in a taxi for goodness sake! I'm so thrifty that that amount could feed me and my daughter for a WEEK!! Grrr lol (I get so wound up!)I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

Hi Eso, welcome to the thread, you've done brilliantly reducing your debt by that much, and I'm sure you'll get your DFD down somewhat. Good luck with it!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Have spent today going round in circles trying to sort out my Lloyds TSB current account and credit card and related charges, PPI and default notices. I am now officially dizzy!
How is everyone this week? ESO, I hope your assessment goes well, I'm sure it can be rather nerve-wracking! Have you 'subscribed' to any threads? There's an option to do so in 'thread options' or something similar up the top on the green bar.
I myself am at home at the mo, 7 months pregnant with baby number 2, a boy, and my 3 year old daughter. I'm really stressing about finances. My boyfriend and I want to move in together but with my debts and poor credit rating it seems I'm stuck in my rented flat for awhile!
I've wiped off 2 lots of unfair credit card charges so far (out of 3) but have so far been unsuccessful with bank charges. I also have 4 defaults on my credit rating, 3 of which I think stand a chance of being removed due to errors. One I am stuck with, I know, though I may attempt to have it removed later in the year if I offer to pay the debt in full.
I'm desperate to move on from my disastrous past and enjoy the future with my family. They are my absolute world and everything I've always wanted. I just hope all this hard work re debts pays off, I am feeling very swamped at the mo!
Your hard work will pay off eventually climbin, frustrating though it is! Try not to get yourself too stressed, it sounds like you've got a chance to get rid of a couple of defaults. You will get there!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
