Poorbabe

lets send a positive vibe mr camerons way so that he has this idea over morning coffee :d x

@ ISOM, now that the UK finally has a PM, I too am waiting to find out how much more financial pain I'll be in as a working, childless, socially housed, debt-ridden female
.
My finances are (relatively) finely tuned for this and the next tax year and don't allow for a massive tax increase however delicately worded .
Still, getting used to the 'no money really means no money' lifestyle is helping to improve my cooking skills no end . Haven't given up on finding my own personal chef though as cooking is sometimes over-rated on those evenings when you get home late and cereal is the quickest option :rotfl:
I couldn't agree more! (And also as a female in much the same situ as you, except I bought my flat  - which is when I realised some money-sense would be good!)Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

So there was I feeling good about about my latest financial manoeuverings, only to get my leccy bill and a note that my monthly DD will double (to £24 per month) but the gas (£15 pm) stays the same for the time being. I'm puzzled as to how my gas usage wasn't too bad over the winter and yet my leccy usage apparently sky-rocketed.
So the £25 per month saving has now reduced to £13. With increased payments to Egg I'll have £6 left to play with. I'll have to put off the search for the personal chef and develop a love for home cooking pretty sharpish methinks .
Off to read the meters to see if the eventual revised bills are lower or higher. I won't challenge the increased leccy payments though as I've always been in arrears since switching to this company. The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
Good idea on the vibes HPGDF - am working on that now. Think I could tag on something into the vibes - maybe a lifetime supply of chocolate? Will give it a try....
Poorbabe - I hate how they raise your DDs with no notice. The worst I had was they let me sit on £25 a month for about a year then suddenly put it up to £75! Ridiculous! Ok, i was in arrears, but then they let me get into that without sorting it out - grrrrrr.
Utilities and credit card companies - all of them should be whipped naked through the streets of Aberdeen. .... just a thought.....Debt Sept 2007 (1st LBM) - £63,000 :embarasseStarted DMP July 2012 (2nd LBM) - £34,000DFD (currently) - 12 years!"Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up."0 -

Frankly as each month goes by I don't know how we do it, but it we do. If you want kids, have kids. You will never be ready for them so don't put it off. I'm sure most people with kids would say the same thing.
Couldn't agree more!
We had decided to put off having children until we had paid off our debts and had our own house but my parents kept telling me that there would never be a "right time" and that if you wait until you can afford it you will be waiting forever.
I didn't agree at the time and didn't want to feel like i was struggling when i had a child to care for. But i am SO pleased my little surprise baby came along when he did. I don't feel like our little boy has missed out on anything. Ok, so we do watch what we spend but we don't have any less fun than any other family, we just find more inventive ways of having days out.
Yes i wish our finacial circumstances we different (don't we all?!) but i would never ever change having our little boy when we did.I'm FINALLY debt free! DFW Long Hauler #227LBM - Jan 2006  March 2006 -£26,725  Apr 2015 - £0!!! :jBaby boy born 1/8/08 Baby girl born 28/6/120 -

Update to my utility bills story. Just read the meters and my figures are less than theirs so I'll expect revised bills shortly. It won't reduce the sums owed by much but it's something. In the meantime, I'll make a note to read the meters monthly rather than quarterly.
My one regret was in not having children, but I would agree that waiting til one has the money means there would never be any children! People always manage. After all, our parents did didn't they? Besides the more children are born, the more my old age and medical bills are spread between them, even though I've been paying taxes for oodlesThe 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
