I managed to stay up til half one, which for me these days is a miracle. I'm usually in bed by ten! I always used to sit up and watch the results but on this occasion I'm glad I didn't. I came down at 6am to find nothing had changed! Oh well.

How is everyone this week? Got my wife's MOT this month. Just paid 230 for four new tyres, which I didn't think was too bad and they wouldn't have passed the MOT anyway. There goes the debtbusting for the month though - all my hard work on ebay goes on tyres!

Just read back what I'd written and thought I'd better clarify - its my wife's MOT for her car. Get your minds out the gutter people!

Roll on June payday! Still waiting for my P60 so I can renew my tax credits - my employers are hopeless!

Hope everyone is well out in debtbusting land!

  • Mot is due in June lol I can't say I'm looking forward to paying spare cash on it but needs must. I'm using my excess to do house and I'm letting big payoff tak a backseat for a few months then when I start uni courses il let the debts have it x

I don't know HPGDF - the fact that you've paid off over £6000 so far this year. By the END of the year I will be lucky to have paid that much off!

You've done exceptionally well so far - don't forget that. You are putting me to shame :)

    Hello All :D
I have the same thing happy-my payments out are over £900 on the minimum which is why I seem to be paying off a reasonable amount but it's compulsory! I'd also like to have a baby sometime soon but not sure I want it to be sent to the poorhouse with me :rotfl:
Stay positive Talisker, you've already paid off loads as well AND kept it up too lol :j

Morning all, has normal programming resumed now that the Election results are in :D?

I made a momentous decision this morning. I'd started saving £25 per month towards the end of last year towards my New York weekend trip in 2 years' time, but since the beginning of this year I've been using my authorised overdraft more and more. So I've closed the savings account and the meagre amount saved to date will close the o/d balance. What I'll then do is use a small portion of the £25 to make overpayments to my Egg cc and leave the remainder as part of my monthly allowance. That should eliminate the need to touch the overdraft and leave it strictly for emergencies.

So what happens to my NY trip? Well, my bank loan ends next July, so from next August I'll put aside that monthly amount (£251.77) from 1 August for 6 months*, then add that monthly amount towards the remaining debts.

It's a little embarrassing to have gotten into this situation when I was much better earlier in the year. All part of the LH experience, I guess :o:o.

*might need to revise the timescale once I have a better idea of flight/hotel/insurance costs.
