Thanks for the replies, I think I will suggest to OH that he rings the cc companies to see if they will freeze the interest, if not then think again re dmp etc. He can not transfer the balances to other cards with better rates or a period of 0% as his credit rating is now through the floor, so only way is the slog of repaying the debts as much as he can, would help if the interest was frozen. ISOM - you are right, he needs to make the calls, he will just have to plant the seed in his head, iykwim!0

Happy do go and see gp...these days there is sufficient experience/resource/medication that you dont have to battle through! Took me an age of battling through on my own before admitting defeat and getting help...my only regret is that I didnt do it earlier ....
yes dubgirl I know what you mean but if you do it for him you'll only delay the lightbulb...that was how I had mine in the end...no credit = oh *** moment followed by the dreaded (but necessary) working it all out!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hey Happy
If you've a decent GP, they'll be good at just listening and talking you through your options, or things that might help. And if they are really good, they won't offer meds right away but want to see you a few more times. If they did want to offer meds, they should be talking you through which ones and why and letting you make that decision!
Perhaps go to GP initially to talk through how your feeling and saying you want to try and help yourself feel better. There are many different options these days and in England GP can refer you to course ran on here http://www.beatingtheblues.co.uk/ which might be better for you?
I agree with ISOM. I held off for nearly 2 years before going to my doctor - and I do wish I'd gone sooner, if only for the objectivity they could give me!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

I tried st johns wort in the past when I was feeling bleugh and it helped..the other thing is checking things like diet - are you getting all your vits etc? I found that I wasnt having enough omega oils and deficiency can cause depression...I also agree that meds not necc the answer, if anything a last resort, but things like councelling, checking for things like anemia, thyroid etc to rule out physical causes and poss councelling to help you work through feelings...its just about finding help to find the right solution for you and your individual circumstances! Hang in there and go gently...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hi Happy, sorry you're feeling so down still. It's all great advice from nicca & Isom. Talking to a GP won't oblige you to have meds or label you. In fact they'd much rather help you in other ways for your health and all sorts of reasons including cost! You might also find once you've talked to someone impartial that you're able to see things more clearly too-will take the weight off your shoulders a little bit I'm sure
2 of my friends absolutely swear by st john's wort....worth a try
also perhaps try taking some extra iron, lack of it can also affect your mood, having no energy etc. Do chat on here & hope you got free vit D from the sun today lol! :rotfl:
