  • Hi and good morning to you all

lunar. To work out your % follow the formula below

Total debt divided by annual wage times 100 = %

    Good luck

I've been reducing my spending overall for the past couple of months and was doing quite well. However, it did mean putting off buying a few things that I really needed and decided I couldn't afford for a while.

I balance transferred, making small payments to the card, saving in my ICICI account to earn a little interest before making a lump sum payment to the cc. Doing this enabled me to clear my Egg card and that's been in the freezer for a few months :T .

I'm about to BT to another card which has a promotion of 0% for 14 months and 0% for 3 months for purchases, but I'm going to have to use the 'purchase' element to acquire stuff like contents insurance, glasses/contact lenses and a few items of clothes. I won't be buying any presents this year so my numerous nephews/nieces will get small presents on their birthdays instead.

I actually feel guilty for spending on the new card even though I know I'll be paying it off over the 14 months or so even if it means doing another 0% switch. What's that about?

The good thing about my 100w lightbulb moment is that I now consider my wants and needs more carefully and have managed to reduce my wants to the occasional chocolate or Friday night takeaway (most of the time, but sometimes I fail miserably) .
