Thanks guys. I work in the City of London and would love to get out for a walk (hence the long hours too) but there is a decided lack of greenery. I avoid going out at lunchtime as there are too many shops around here.
I do have some half done cross stitch projects on the go, so I will get on with those - good idea. Even have a couple of christmas bits I could turn into special cards.
Come Sunday I will get DH and the two offspring out to the local woods - sod the £2 parking fee. it will do us all good.
Feeling better already at the thought at being out in the open air.
thanks guys, I really, really appreciate the kind words and thoughts.LBM 10 JUNE 07June 07 - £68K May 08 apx £57K MORTGAGE £212KJune Grocery Challenge - Budget £445 Actual £17.40PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS0 -
Hi fellow longhaulers...hope you are all well,
I've had a fantastic day today...a good day on the cab followed by the dreaded meeting with my accountant....turns out I only have to pay £35 tax in january...yesssssssss...DH has to pay £201 but as I paid too much on account for him they how us about £700....yippee!!!...on top of that we only received one payment of £17 from tax credits..so I rang them and gave them our official figures and when looking on entitled to we are entitled to £30+ p/w so should have a good back payment to come...if we get this I can pay it off my bills...so all in all a good day here...
Am off tomorrow and ready for the rest ...have a good day everyone0 -
 Evening all!
I'm having a bit of a good news/bad news one step forward one step back kind of week, this week.
Last night we agreed the figure of £200 a month to be revised as his income grows for my son's "Housekeeping" and he transferred it straight into the Bills account. (grudgingly - but at least I didn't have to get my new Polish buddy to come round and look at the "Room To Let"!)
So that's good, as it's been a bit fraught here about all that.
No sooner had I worked out this morning that an extra £200 a month brings our DFD forward to April 2009 than Hubby rang to say that the car's been written off.
Someone pulled out on him, and our old heap is a deceased Nissan.(Hubby's fine.) We only just paid for four new tyres and a new gear box last month which cost more than the insurance company will pay out - probably.
Oh poo pants!

What a shame about the car but well done on getting the housekeep off your son0

Jacks my friend had her car written off just after some major repairs and she bartered to get a better payment from the insurance company as she has the receipts. It's worth a try.0

aww jacks thats awful but the most important thing is OH is ok. Were there any witnesses? Good that DS paying but I recon he got off lightly!! You ole softy!!
Cdg some days really are harder than others and the great thing about being a DFW is that you are surrounded by people who understand that. I just tend to keep myself busy & away from the shops tbh! Since being a DFW my life has changes but for the better! I used to just shop & that was it. Now have an allotment, do my own cooking and mastering skills such as jam and chutney making! I also have an allotment which is a great & cheap way of getting out & about and meeting new people, getting excercise & growing veg! Nothing like munching on one of your own home grown carrots (after its been washed!!). I can honestly say that my life is better since I started to tackle my debts...different than it was but I am happier but like all do have blips when all the bargan hunting etc gets me down! Not sure if that helps? Hug for you!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -

It is very good to have some support on a day like today cos silly moo that I am I can't just be happy that hubby is OK - I also have to torment myself with the "what ifs"
I'm going to try your negotiation idea on te insurance company Lemon Tree. (now that I am a hard @r$e negotiator!)
Also..I've got some more news but I am not sure whether to be excited  or slightly embarrassed...
I've just sat here and opened the mail as it's been like picadilly circus here today...
and I have letter from Alison Young at QVC inviting me to their New Year New You Event in Westminster in January.
