Evening fellow longhaulers...everything going well here...this week I received a cheque from BT for £27.79(I'd overpaid) and another one for £50(compensation from Tiscali)...when cashed both of these will go as an overpayment off my egg card.
I also received £20 in pigsback vouchers bringing my total to £30 these will be used to buy my sons something for christmas...I bought the office staff a bottle of smirnoff(£8 in morrisons) and a tin of choco lates £5(asda)...I have loads of toiletries for my 2 DDS hampers and have my grandsons christmas and birthday presents....I will put £20 in my other sons bank account as hes in the navy...so only have to buy DHs present and christmas is done with no debt...
I will also make a very large overpayment to Barclays next monday probably over £1k...so all in all a good week..0 -
Great to see loads of new people on here. I hope everyone sticks around. Other than my usual monthly payments I havnt been able to pay any extra. I have bumped up my cashback mind you so that will either help out with Christmas or pay some more off. TBH if I get through Christmas without adding to my debt I will be extremely happy. If I pay any extra off of debts then I will be ecstatic. Keep going everyone the next few weeks will be really hard going x5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -

Me again,
I think a DFW all on my own.
I've got 3 accounts with HSBC :mad: - for which I'm being charged interest every month numerous letters etc won't stop.
The consequence is that my debt is actually going up each month!!!!
I can't shop on-line either as when I changed bank accounts at the start of the DMP I was only issued a cash card and they won't upgrade it (I've tried).
The barstewards at HSBC have just withdrawn DH's formal overdraft on his account.
I know there is other stuff I could be doing but I'd rather spend time with my 6.5 month old DD as I go back to work full-time in January.
Overpayments are out of the window at the moment as I'm on SMP and DH's wages are used for living.
Sorry I just had to rant.
Thanks for reading

Hi maddogwoman.
We had the same problem with my hubby and HSBC. We arent in a debt management plan but offered reduced payments on his loan of £200.00 a month - they said they couldnt accept less than £240.00. They then passed it to their debt collecters MCS (who for debt collectors were really nice). The debt collectors froze the interest and now we pay £100.00 pm half of what we originally offered! You may be better waiting until its passed to MCS.
He then opened a step account with Natwest and got a Solo card so he can still use it for almost everything x x
Dont worry we will all get there one day. x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Thanks Penguin83,
Just need to wait for the same thing to happen to the other 2 accounts too.
Here's hoping the bank charges decision goes the right way, as I've got a claim in for £6k (across the accounts) which would help in a big way.

Thats something Im hoping for too. With a total of 18 creditors (!) bank and credit card charges add up to a fair bit. Need to get my finger out and carry on with the credit card charges.
Something else to add to the ever increasing to do list! xxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I don't think I'll be able to make extra payments on my CC at the moment, as 'those things' I've been putting of buying are now critical , however I've managed to save £300 in total, for October and November that I wanted to put on the card, but will have to spend instead. At least I'm not increasing my overall debt, I guess.
MIT, I agree with you that the next few weeks will be a hard slog, but we will persevereThe 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420
