Hi all! Well not been on for ages but feel like we are slowly turning a corner in our quest to become DF. Cleared nearly £650 since our last update in August just before wedding, although we still have to pay photographer £650:rolleyes:!! That said we did splash out quite alot in the week leading up to wedding with going out for meals with family etc. OH has given up smoking too which is a massive bonus, she still has the odd crafty one if we go out for a drink, meal or party but to be fair to her she has given up 90% of the time, I am so proud of her. Also we have both cut down on drinking & if we do get some beers in or go out for a drink, then this has to come out of our own entertainment budget rather than the shopping budget:rolleyes:!! The same goes for takeaways. Also being much more careful to use food up, making sure that we don't let anything go off. We are more determined than ever to become DF and by approaching our DFW journey in a much more sensible manner life should start to become much easier. Don't think that we'll crack the £1,000 we were hoping to pay off between July 31st & December 31st but gonna give it our best shot & then aim to clear at least £3,000 in 2010. Thanks for reading folks & be back on later, take care!!

Thanks Black Taxi, feel so much more optimistic about tackling the debt now. Wedding & honeymoon were perfect & we didn't overdo our budget by too much, so very happy about that!! Going to have a bash at getting some of our high balance CC's onto low LOB cards or 0% deals over the weekend!! Going to update the list of how we would like to hopefully clear the debt over the next few years! Thanks again & hope everyone is well!!

Well done on the debtbusting...lodger is in. I didnt sell because I would have been in negative equity so life has been manic while I've decluttered, chucked, car booted, got rid of cats (but theyre all settled and happy in new homes) and generally not been spending money! Thankfully friends have been fantastic and supportive...odd getting used to someone else being in the house - managed to sort it so that its homely if compact! Lodger wanted the single room so I have the sitting room and t feels very much like home - like before but the condensed version plus decuttered! Still bits to sort...am off for a sleep as babysitting tonight...

  • Morning everyone!, just catching up as not been on for a few weeks. I have started my new job now which is going great but quite stressful although the extra £500 a month is coming in rather handy!

I have just redone all my budgets, tried to give us a realistic food budget, try as I might I just cannot feed the 4 of us on £200 a month (inc cleaning stuff etc) so I have doubled it to £400 which gives us breathing space, I'm trying to keep each weekly shop below £100 and then any left over can be used for treats or off the debt.

I have also figured that we will be debt free by May 2011 on our new budget!!!! hurrah!!! although that does seem ages away. I desperately want to stick to this now though, our mortgage will go up in March 2011 so if we don't get this debt cleared by then we#ll be lucky to get a good deal.
