Hello, thought I better check in, as i havent been around for a while. Belated Happy Birthday to ISOM, you know what they say "life begins......." hope you had a lovely day. Well things in the dub household have been just ticking along, no worse, no better. Still plodding along and feeling like we are getting nowhere fast, but at least we are able to make some sort of payment towards the debt no matter how small. Well thats what I keep telling myself! I am actually feeling ok at the moment, its helped as I just had a sideways move into a different team at work, so hoping the change will re-invigorate me. remember PMA everyone, take care x
  • hows the tapestry going dubgirl? Have you finished it yet! lo re life beginning at 40...certainly didnt anticipate the end that my 39h year got...as you say dubgirl...pma! Been much better at lasck of spends that thats good!

  • HTGDF - the Dominican is lovely and all inclusive means that you can keep spends to a minimum - I say go for it

We need to have the odd treat along the way to make the journey bearable - that's my view anyway - and it is your honeymoon

Hi, my estimated debt is in my sig!! Quite a scary amount considering how small my DMP payments are going to be! On the good side I will never be able to get a credit card EVER again and that makes me sooooooo happy because I know I can't be trusted not to impulse buy so now I don't have to worry about it , if I don't have the cash then I can't have it.

I have had a credit card since the second I turned 18 (will be 30 next month) and the first thing I did was max it out on a holiday! Then applied for several more and spending it on clothes, make-up etc etc as you do , then just little bit's here and there to tide you over til you get paid.....mates birthday.......clubbing...... stuff thats important when your 18! lol

Then met OH, got married, paid for by CC, had DS, funded by CC, then can only work part-time and all of a sudden money running out by 1st week after pay day, need nappies but you have no money because it's all going on CC bills, balance transfer but then use that empty card again to buy more stuff that you need, basic stuff like bread and milk etc etc

So here I am many years down the line treading water, paying bills on CC then using them again cos there are no wages left to buy food, gas, petrol and then the CC companies start to notice I am struggling, late payments or returned as not enough in bank account for direct debit and so they start putting up the APR 9.9 - 16.9 , 16.9 - 34.9 and the minimum payments that were £50 are now £100 x 8 and it's all my wages plus more!

Thats when I knew it had to end! Enter MSE and advice from such lovely, helpful people + 1 call to Payplan = getting life sorted out , I feel more in control but also scared out my wits at whats to come!
    Goal weight....lighter than when I started :D
  • thank you for sharing that with us gpuk...its really hard but youve had the courage to deal with it so onwards and upwards...or downwards as the case will be. I can relate to what you say about not having a cc and the impulse buying....am better than I was but could do better! So pleased that you found mse...its been a lifesaver for many and not knowing you are alone make a huge diference doesent it? hugs for you and welcome. I look forward to getting to know you better in the years and months ahead...

  • evening, well done on taking the plunge to post aand take the bull by the horns, sometimes the hardest part is accepting that we have debt, sometimes we can argue with our selves saying why shouldnt we buy this we deserve it, i look forward to reading your journey...x
