To echo what ISOM says too.

I've just seen a phrase on MSE somewhere that said onwards and downwards!

We can use this to describe us to, I often say onwards and upwards. I'm replacing the upwards with downwards for the debt reductions!

Afternoon all. The best day of the week has finally arrived :j

I received a statement from Thames Water last night and I was convinced they were going to increase my monthly DD up from £17, so I was very surprised to see a £3 per month reduction instead :T:T

I was so happy until I realised rent and CT increases next year will wipe out that reduction massively . Oh well, it was a nice feeling for a while .

Every penny down is a penny closer to debt free date...must focus on that when I have the urge to spend!

I've been Money Tipped! Chutzpah Haggler
Afternoon everyone, thanks for trying to cheer me up!!! I know that if I did lose my job god forbid we could manage on hubby's wage but the min payments on all the debts would blow that right out of the water! so we would have to go on a DMP, can't imagine having to go down that route tbh

I don't know why I'm thinking I'm going to lose my job, well it's prob because I am currently working my notice period and due to start a new job on 7th Sept which is more money anyway, but I guess I'm now feeling really unsettled, wondering what if they decide after all they don't want me? then I'm out of a job full stop!!!!! I don't know why I am thinking like this, I just need to get stuff paid off a bit more so I can feel a bit more at ease with things. Fed up of living in our overdrafts, none of them are that huge but we have a few so keeping on top of them is a challenge and I end up using money from them to throw at the debt, not sure if this is false economy or not

  • So many things to juggle all the time. Just try to do your best Millie - Im sure the new job will be good and just think of a bit of extra cash. Nothing you can do about what ifs if they happen you will cope. So what if at some point a DMP is needed. Im sure it wont but its an option. Be as good at moneysaving/debt busting as you can whilst living and enjoying your life and looking after the family they and you are whats important. As long as its heading down then you are being successful.

Right now for me things are slow, on minimums. Feeling up and down but at least Im not majorly stressed out didnt even flap when I went to Mums!

Keep plodding Happy - how much better will you feel when you can pay for your new hosue stuff in cold hard cash and not on credit - I do know what you mean though - it is tough on a long haul. Just remember though, for me, just "sticking stuff" on the credit card was what go tme here in the first place
