What about a little 'visual' motivation to help you both stay on track?
On your bedroom wall, or anywhere suitable, write down the current total and update each month. Large text mind, so you can't miss the figures. Forget about the DF date for now as we all know that can get us down at times.
I've got family with me at the minute so I'm not about to put mine up but will do as soon as my place is my own
What a fabulous idea, I'm definitely going to do this. :T
Rambling tree, I also use the tesco clubcard points for meals out. Just had another £20 arrive in the post last week which I'm saving for my birthday. I haven't paid full price for a meal out for months now - if I don't have clubcard vouchers then I find a deal from MSE instead. This is something else I intend to carry on when I'm debt-free - I like flashing my money-off vouchers at the end of a meal, it's very satisfying!0 -

If things are that stressful for you why not ring one of the free debt agencies (cccs or debt plan I think) and get them to sort it. You can also write and ask them to communicate by letter only...main thing is that youre deling with it and thats better than trying to pretend its not happening.
Thank you for the welcome! I did all that, and managed to stop *most* of the phone calls, but even though I knew the threatening letters and calls were tactics to try and frighten me into paying, frankly they worked! I got so tired of the stress that we worked our butts off to earn more money - full time, plus evenings and weekends too, husband doing overtime - and caught up with all the outstanding minimum amounts.
I think DMPs are great, and I really do admire the people who stick it out trying to get their creditors to freeze interest/reduce payments, but it wasn't for me. So at the moment we're meeting the minimum payments and the threats have stopped. It was really hard scraping the money together, and I was knackered doing all that work, but the weight that has been lifted has made it worth it.0 -

We're not that good with encouraging each other with money saving - if one of us wants a takeaway for example, the other one is very easily persuaded.
Hmmm why does that sound familiar

Funny... CK has just got home from work wanting a Chinese. But I'd only just stuck up a piece of paper on the fridge with our total debt on it, as per poorbabe's suggestion, so that stuffed up his plans  He's sulking now.0 -
LOL L&CK
Well about 5 lots prepared for ebay with 1 of them on. The hardest as its about 25 items. Ill go back and put the ret on today. In total if all sell it should bring in £122 less fees.:j0 -

Hi all! Well not been on for a bit again. Not much to report on the debt front, not doing too bad but think this is more to do with OH earning a better wage than usual last month. Had a weekend away last week visiting friends. They live in countryside & we checked a few lovely places out that we haven't been to for years or ever. Had a great weekend with the weather too & will be doing more days out at these places, taking picnics etc. to make it a cheap yet enjoyable day. Being 'townies' i guess we should check out the countryside much more than we do! Made a b*lls up with transferring some money from 17.9% Tesco CC to our 19.9% overdraft. Online statement said we could transfer £199, but I didn't take into account the interest that was yet to be added on, so without realising went over credit limit. So had a letter today charging us £12. Will give them a ring over weekend & hopefully they might waiver the fee. Thanks for reading folks & be back again soon, all the best!DEBT AT LBM(1/7/07)-£35,052.19 DEBT (31/08/10) Average amount paid off P.M. £67.96 Paid off so far £2582.68(7.3%) Target to pay off in 2010 £2,340.14/£3,600 LH Supporter(165) DFD September 2110:eek:0
