  • An expensive month with holiday balance and car tax but thankfully due to MSE its all saved for :). Aim this month is to stick to all budgets especially the grocery one. I did an updated SOA and Snowball. I should have an extra £100 a month to throw at debts. If I did that I could be debt free in 3 years.

Good luck with your new challenge ISOM

Hi all - just wanted to say hope everyone is doing ok and hanging in there. Will hopefully this month be able to update my signature to show something ahs been paid off this year - we have had a few expenses over the last few months - but 1 loan has only 5 months to go - so gradually things are going down. Overtime will be in short supply over the next few months but hopefully we can manage

  • Hi everyone. I haven't posted for ages so thought I'd pop in. I do lurk occasionally.

Life is tough for me at the moment as have had some expenses, school trips, uniform, etc, and am struggling just to cover bills, buy food and pay minimum payments on debts at the moment. So there's no hope at the moment of overpaying on the debts which I would really like to do.

I find this quite depressing. But I'm trying to hang in there, keep working hard, spending as little as possible, and hoping things will improve. Coming on here does help my morale.

Sorry to hear about your hit and run black taxi. Not good.

I'm really trying to cut back on spending at the moment. Our food bill has crept up (mainly due to price rises) so am going to downgrade tuna to value (from Tesco own), tested out the cheapest marg I could find (seems ok), downgrade pizza to value as we add own toppings anyway, and downgrade cottage cheese to value. Also stop buying grapes as can't afford them. I'm hoping these measures will get food bill down to a more reasonable figure and thereby save £80 a month.

Positive thoughts to all long haulers!

  • Unfortunately our debt is larger than last year, and that is what really gets me down at the moment!

But I'm determined to reduce it. The recession isn't helping but I won't be beaten.

There isn't an Aldi very near to us happy, I wish there was, but I buy value everything from Tesco (well I do now, after my recent changes). I am going to work out what to buy before I go based on my past receipts, make a list with prices and if it adds up to too much, then things will get crossed off. I will get the food bill down. :p

  • Try not to beat yourself up you are foing the right things now and are only human. Just learn from recent errors and aim not to repeat. Noone will be 100% successful I added 2k at the end of 2008 which I could kick myself for.
