Well last day tomorrow & also payday:j ! Hoping to fnish the year below £31k, which we wouldn't have done without both doing extra hours. Glad now that I geared myself up to work 7 days a week for the last month, as it has paid for Xmas & also hopefully helped lower the debts a little. Think bathroom is defianately sorted now. Got new shower head & water not hitting the corner of the bath like it was before, so fingers crossed that is sorted for good. Also got nearly £700 saved towards wedding, as I have been putting Xmas tips towards this too. OH's Mum also giving us £1,000 towards it, so that will be the venue paid for & some money left over to start sorting everything else out! Dubgirl i'm glad that you are happy, we too have learned not to let the debts get to us & we will all get there, no matter how long it takes. Probably won't b back on til after Xmas, so we hope everyone has a great Xmas, all the best!

Glad to hear you sounding postive Dubgirl because you had a tough few months. Hope you hit sub £31k LTM07 and ISOM best we both be frugal for a while!

Well got paid today & work got my overtime payments wrong, just at he right time of year:rolleyes: ! Wages are about £80 short, luckily with me working so many hours we will get by, just frustrating that the gaffer isn't doing his job properly & blames the wages department every time our wages are wrong. Also mate who does alot of work on the house for us asked us if he could borrow £120, as a cheque he put in last Friday hasn't cleared in time for him. It has come out of shopping budget & he will give it back to us as soon as cheque clears. We could do without lending it him really but he has saved us £100's if not £1,000's on doing the house up & this is probably his downfall as far as money is concerned, he doesn't charge people enough! Couldn't see him struggling over Xmas & as I say, he will pay us straight back. Going to end the year at around £30,800 if there's no more hiccups before so quite pleased with that. Have a good one everybody & will update in a few days, all the best!

  • Hello all...so what are people going to do differently this year? For me ts about getting back from slippage...my cc is no longer in my purse and I think I'll go back to cash for gb shopping. No more books or mags for 6 months and generally just saying no and using the "need/want" mantra...all in all that should make a positive dent in the cc's which, as always, are my main area of concern! Have had good chats with mum over christmas and shes reminded me how much I have changed...just feel frustrated with myself that I do so well and then sabotage myself...annoying!

For us it is going to be little things like adding OH to Nectar card & Tesco clubcard, as we share one at the minute & sometimes if one of us is shopping alone the other one has the card:D ! Also if we do forget the card in future we will save receipts to make sure we claim the points. Also going to sort the printer out that we think is broken. Gonna get my mate to have a look at it & if it is broken we will get a new printer, to download online 2 for one vouchers etc, which in the long run will eventually pay for the printer . Also my Mum's bought us a food processor for Xmas so will use that for recipe making alot more & also sort garden for vegetable growing. Also going to carry on doing a shop at Aldi & Lidl at least once a month. Moeovertime too & join a few challenges on here. I think all of the long haulers are doing well, just keeping the debts under control in the current climate is an achievement in itself. However we personally know we need to start stepping up a gear or two. We are happy with life but at the same time will always be fed up with having so much debt.
