  • Plan for 2009 is to do budget, stick to budget, talk myself out of anything thats not actually needed, raise cash via carboots ebay and bodyshop etc, challenges mainly the grocery challenge. Pay more attention to tesco points and money coupons as I have been slipping there as well.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely Xmas and roll on the New Year. I have been thinking about what we are going to do to reduce debt further and generally stay in control of our money and our lives. There are lots of little things I want to change, such as stop using plastic carrier bags when shopping etc. On the money front, we need to tighten our budget, carry on sticking to it and try to find ways to make extra cash. I want to work smarter not harder in all aspects of my life. As always, remember PMA, that is something I want to try to ensure that I feel all the time. take care everyone x

amen to that!! So far not too bad although my stick blender broke and I had 19.50 in library fines which was a breath taking amount!! Wont do it again though! Have joined the 4000 a year challenge but doing it my way - ie 4000 after bills/loans - will still be an improvement and hopefully mean I can make the pay of 10,000 challenge! Hope people are ok? Gorgeous sunny day here - hiding the fact that it really is bitterly cold!

Hi all! Good luck with your challenges ISOM, we too have joined one or two challenges to hopefully give us a kick up the aris & chip away alot faster! Pay for the wedding venue tomorrow,as it has to be paid for before next Friday. Going to pay on CC for two reasons, one is for protection in case the venue becomes a victim of the downturn & closes down & 2 because we have managed to save £730 out of the £1,000 we need to pay. OH's Mum has sent a cheque for £1,000 over from Spain that she has given us towards the wedding, so as soon as that comes it will be in the bank so we can pay the £1,000 off the CC & keep the £730 in the bank IYKWIM. All the best this year to everyone!!

  • ISOM - £19.50 library fines!!!!! Nightmare!

ISOM and ltm07 - good luck to you both with your challenges, keep posting and updating. I'm doing the NSD and grocery challenges, and trying desparately to stick to my Jan budget. we're trying to save some money for my maternity leave cos in May I'll be going onto stat maternity pay

Doing pretty well though, been calculating what we need to do to make the amount that would be equal to my salary and it looks manageable :D

Go for it PG! Being at home could go either way - less temptation or more opportunity to spend!! Very exciting re the wedding ltm - when is it? Sorry if youve said before - so many people on here at the mo that I loose track! Feeling positive about the debt coming down this year - dont know why - just feel somethings clicked IYKWIM!
