Hello everyone, hope you are all feeling revved up and ready to go debt busting in the 09. LTM , a wedding, it sounds great and you and your OH seem to have a really sensible grip on everything. I'm right with you about still saving and having a few treats like a cheap holiday, whilst paying off the debt. We are planning on doing another sun holiday again this year, we went to the IOW last year and it was wonderful. We do need to improve the saving aspect of our money management, but we are ok at the moment and it is good to know that at the end of each month we break even and are still in the black, even if it is normally just a couple of quid or less sometimes! Take care everyone and remember PMA x0

I did the sun holiday last year and it was hell hell hell! Went to Pontins in Southport and it was the worst place ever. I have beenthere loads of times in the past but it was shocking. I know it was a budget chalet but it was not acceptable. DD and I wre covered in bites when we came home. *** shudder*** at the thought of it. I was too embarassed to complain as it was a sun holiday so we came homeearly instead. Been anothertime tho and ended up in a fab caravan on a lovely wee quiet site in Aryr. We are heading to Islay this year to the youth hostel so another basic holidaybut kids are hving friens with them and they are really excited about it x5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.000 -
Sorry about the bad experience MIT, no matter how cheap the holiday the accomodation should be clean, we found Butlins a bit like that at Minehead a few years ago, the accomodation was ok, but the surroundings weren't the best(broken beer bottles & litter everywhere). For saying that they're the main 2 holiday camps you would think they would be the best, saying that it was 7 years ago when we went there, so it may have improved since then. Dubgirl we have also been to the IOW on a Sun holiday, what a beautiful island the IOW is & we will definately go there again. Been on about 10 Sun hols when DD was younger & never had a problem with any, our favourite one was probably Hopton near Gt Yarmouth, which we liked so much we went there twice!Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. Went to Minehead Butlins 6-7 years ago and it wasnt too bad. I think you have to be at least silver standard though for a reasonable room. Going again in the Summer but not with the Sun holidays but with a 50% off deal someone posted on here. £620 ish for 5, half board and in the summer hols. Budgeting for the remaining payment and plenty of spending money so hoping this year we get the weather.
The Sun holidays are good did one last year at Burnham on Sea - Holiday Resort Unity.:j0 -
We really did enjoy the holiday at Butlins as a whole KP & as I say the accomodation wasn't too bad, just thought that there could have been more of an effort to keep the stairways & balconies more up to scratch. That said, people should have more manners & respect not to make such a mess in the first place. Would definately go there again, but would definately upgrade to silver standard. Sometimes paying that little bit more is definately worth it. 50% off, that is a great deal. At the time we felt that we did get our money's worth. The drinks at the club were more expensive than alot of places, but when we went they had East 17, Stephen Mulhern off ITV, Kylie & Robbie tribute act & The Cheeky Girls & also a free fair, so it was definately good value for money.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. Gosh I sounded a bit of a moaner there lol. I think £9.50 was worth it for the entertainment alone but I hate staying somewhere not clean. Dont mind basic but it was minging lol. We even bought bleach and some cream cleaner but it didn't help, the dirt was ingrained. I'm sure other pontins sites would be fine I think I was just unlucky. Maybe we should start a thread on decent destinations for the sun hols lol5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Hi i'm sorry to hear about the bad experiences with the Sun holidays, couldnt fault ours last year, perhaps it is just luck. This year we are going with my sister and her family to somewhere in Somerset, maybe Weston-Super-Mare as that is half way for both of us. We would move to the IOW if we could, just a dream for now!0

Burnham is just down the road from WSM Dubgirl. Nice place beach just sand and mud but the same as WSM really. You can drive onto the beach and our kids had fun in the sand dunes. There is a funfair there that takes Tesco vouchers so we used that alot. The Haven site is ok done touring there a couple of times. i got fed up of all the extra selling that was done in the entertainment though.:j0

Hi everyone, how are we all doing? got the tokens from the sun and sending off the form tonight, once spoken to my sister and decided exactly where we want to go. Is it me or are prices of food and petrol slowing creeping up again. Got the shopping today and had the embarassment of having to return a couple of items as I did not have enough money! I have a set weekly budget for shopping and always pay in cash. Guess I am going to have to tweak the budget yet again. remember PMA take care all x0
