Welcome jenevive! Not the only one to get here by your own stupidity - me too!! At least we know where we're at now and are doing something about it eh! We are all in a deep hole & cawing out but with the longhaulers at least we acknowledge that it will take time and will support each other through it...hang in there!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi everyone, my official number is 122 (thank you), I'm just starting with Payplan, 1st payment due in July, at present it looks as though I'm going to be here for around 15 years. Thanks already to all the members as I've been reading the posts and it really helps to find out you're not alone and that the feelings of shame and despair do fade when you get some control back into your life.0

Hi,
Sorry for repeating myself but I want to ask a question that I've already asked.
(I posted a thread about it at lunchtime but only got one response - wrong time of day perhaps).
Anyway, I thought you fellow long-haulers might have some idea.......
Enough waffle!
2 of my CC debts are with MBNA (£6000/£2000) and each have a current interest rate of 2.52% a month!!!:o
Is it worth writing to them asking if they would consider reducing the interest rate - even for a fixed term - to allow me to make inroads into the debt?
Part of me thinks - if you don't ask, you don't get - but the other part of me thinks it might alert them to my money worries and cause more problems.
Any thoughts??Proud to be dealing with my debts

I would say you have seen better deals and can they match saving you the hassle of moving? Dont tell them you are struggling to pay. You are right dont ask dont get.:j0

jenavive have you posted an SOA? Not sure how long the interest rate is for or what incoming/outgoings are so hard to say but that seems a good rate! It all depends on whether you can afford to pay IYKWIM! I have always managed to pay mine but thankfully have a good salary to be able to do that. If you cant pay then the best advice I could give is to contact ne of the free debt agencies & get advice as a DMP may be a good idea and they negociate for you but its hard to advise without knowing your ability to pay. Once you tell them youre struggling you may find it hard to get credit which will impact on your ability to get good BT rates...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! What does IYKWIM mean?
I have started a diary on here that has my SAO - Jenevieve's time to get serious debt diary - would be great if you had the time to have a quick look with any suggestions.
Isn't 2.53% really high - works out about 30% APR yearly?
I'm able to meet the minimum payments without problem and I think that if I pull in my non-essential spending, I will have more to throw at my debts. I did CCCS's debt remedy which basically told me that.
I've also signed up for lots of online surveys too.
I'm going to freeze my pension to free up some money too. I've been paying into it since I was 18 so I think I could do that without too much problem.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Morning all!
Well, it's going to be a no-spend day for me, only because I don't have any!!!! Not the attitude, I know....
That gives me plenty of time to fill in surveys, housework and generally faff around on the computer.
Happy days.............;)Proud to be dealing with my debts
