The long haul supporters thread...

Good morning,
Have sent off my first token payments and had a few phone calls, so far everyone I have spoken to has been quite understanding, I suspect this won't last though. Cancelled Experian yesterday, after having my final look at my credit report reading 'Satisfactory' from top to bottom. Oh how things change. Am I concerned that my report will be bad, yes. Am I ever going to get another card of any kind (debit card excluded), NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first payment to Payplan is due now on the 15th July and I will be glad when that has been made as I will view it as the beginning of the end.
Hope you all have a peaceful day. x
Hi Kpwll,

I'm quite pleased. I'm making a concerted effort not to spend unless necessary and although it is 3 weeks until payday, I've got £175 between now and then. Main supermarket shop done which will last 2 weeks, so I think I can survive on that.
I've cancelled my mobile insurance (frees up £6.95 per month)
Finally paid my last monthly gym fee (now cancelled - saving of £35).
I think I need to remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint and it is a case of chipping away bit by bit at my debt.
I'm still planning to phone my pension people and find out if I can freeze payments for a while - that would give me roughly £170 extra a month to throw at my debts.
Feeling a bit more in control.
Hope all your other long haulers are doing ok.
Also, am really chuffed that NADAL is through! woooooH!!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts

Be careful on the pension thing. I thought at 17 I was too young to do a pension and no at 47 have no prospect of getting any pension other than the £67 a week on the dss. I'm sure that if you put up a SOA we could cut it by £170 a month for you so freeing up your pension payment.
Take care,

Hi chimp choker, I'm going to look into the option of whether or not I can freeze it for a couple of years. I joined it when I was 18 and apart from a 2-and-a-half year break when I worked abroad, I have paid into it uninterrupted for a total of 16 years, so I'm hoping I can freeze it for at least a year if possible.Proud to be dealing with my debts

Ohh this has gone quiet. Looks like we have lost LTM07 though. He has signed off on his thread.
Finally got the paperwork from work to update the tax credits and after it hanging around for a week before I got around to ringing the result is a drop from £70 to £36 a week. Expected really as work has been good this last year but a pain that even though I rang to say wages gone up they wouldnt finalise until I had the hire car benefit costs which I had no idea what they would be.
Need to revisit my budget and really cut back. I have been overspending still and letting OH overspend as well.
Hope things better for the rest of you.:j0
