    Debt-free and Proud!
Welcome Milliemonster and SouthernSoftie good luck inyour DFW journeys. Im sure In Search of Me will be along at some point to award a number for each of you.

Main thing with being a longhaulers is too remember we are "running" a Marathon not a Sprint. We need to make sure we have juggle moneysaving with still enjoying life as its going to take a while.

Enjoying life is the bit I can't get right, with me it's all or nothing and so I work ALL the time and pay/save everything and rarely give me anything including any time. I'm too scared to relax, my worst habit is giving/leanding money out to others and now have to keep a tight rain on myself, which I'm not good at. Every month I still do it, I'm the only person I don't give money to, which is why I am always getting into debt, Help. I need to be saved from myself:o

deep in the red (128) Welcome & sorry it took me a day to add you! Senior moment but better late than never eh! Say hi to folks & tell us a bit about you!
Here we go again can you look at why you give people money? Is is because people just think oh I'll ask cos he/he (dont know which you are lol!) will always say yes! Maybe next time say you'll have a think then have a look at how much interest you would save yourself by saying no. Also think about how you are helping others lending money - noone will ever have a LBM if they have people to take the slack and they'll not take responsibility....I know its hard & I've lost friends for saying no but then I figure everyone knows I'm tryng to pay debts off so am actually annoyed they ask me for money!
Pay days for me today but going to wait until Mondsy when all the payments transfer over as seem to !!!! it up when I pay bills before that! Will hopefully get a tax rebate soon too!

Hi all (again)! After a week or so thinking about things I have decided to stick around & keep checking in here now & then. Sorry if my recent posts have been negative but I have had it at the back of my mind into how the hell will we clear over £30k of debt in less than 5 years. So I have decided to put DFD back by another 5 years & gain as much ground as possible, so that we can live & enjoy life the way we want to & still slowly pay off our debts. Going to talk to OH about this but it is the only way that I feel we can do the whole DFW thing without missing out too much on things. Thanks for reading & backon soon! All the best!!

  • Hello all

Im guessing you all out enjoying the lovely weather before the usual returns:D !

Hope you are doing better than me because Im having a right blip at the moment. Dentist, Optitions, Birthdays, general small spends on rubbish that build up, pool chamicals and to top it all a daft spend on a camping fridge that

1)I have been wanting for ages - over a year
2)is much better than what we have
    3) at a great price

    BUT

    4) I couldnt really afford it so budget really tight and the chance in the next few months with everything else including hoilday end August I may not clear the credit cards as usual each month  .

That will be the first time since my LBM in Nov.

    To combat my stategy is:
    • Car boot next week without fail
    • Ebay pool heater
    • Cut grocery budget
    • Bulk buy choc at MR T ie pack of 5 rolos for 1.50 ish rather than 55p each in work vending machine and shop.
    • Declared planned spends on my diary and maybe here so I can wait 24hours to hear your comments before buying.
    Todays planned spend is nothing

  • Hi all

Hope everyone is well - just a quick post to keep me focussed (as you may know I'm rubbish at regular posting!)

Our debt is now sub £9k :T

I've worked out that if I contribute £135 a month to our debt savings until all the loans are paid off in August 2010, that will cover all the debt :D AND we won't have to pay any early redemption charges etc.

Anyhoo - bye for now, will be back for an update when we're sub £8k!

    Little Richard (129)

sorry LR...didnt realise someone wanted a new no!

Sounds as if people are struggling generally...possibly summer (or lack of?!!) and feeling a bit left out? Have been feeling a bit like my life is just trying not to spend which usually leads to more spends as I rebel! mad and /i sometimes wonder if I actually want to be debt free!
I've enrolled on a years eve class is patchwork as want to make a whole cloth welsh quilt for my bed and it will keep me busy over the winter. I'm going with a friend tomorrow to get a sewing machine which is in place of my summer holiday which I wont be having - decided to go for a mid range rather than the cheapest...have set a limit and will stick to that. Its all the little bits that are added that I worry about lol!
Welcome newbies...whats done is done and for me the value of the journey is looking at why I spend and learning from it. Since my lbm I've had a journey and I think discovered who I am and what makes me happy - not the things I thought before! Simple pleasures for me now...

Well done jonnyboy80 - I am trying to dig my head out of the sand, but back with intent to cause harm to them (and good to me)

Hope everyone else is doing well.
