moozies weekly challenge w/c 21st oct

Good afternoon lovely DFWs

Now for anyone looking in, please feel free to join - the more the merrier! Basically, decide on the amount you want to spend up to from Sunday until the end of the working day on Friday then pledge it here and off we go! The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anythng else.

Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!!

Moozie x
Last weeks thread ~ http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=574500

welcome all... I hope you have had a great week and kept it low... and are you ready to be turned red/green? Everyone can join, just post a target in keeping with you/your debts/your spends, don’t worry about everyone else’s budgets. Then each day post on the daily spends thread and add them all up ready to post the following Saturday. The challenge runs from Sunday to the Friday... everyone welcome... please dont worry if you have gone over budget and will be turned red it happens... to me more than anyone else.

  • right i dont know how to say this and i know it will hurt someone but i nearly didnt post this thread because of it, and i heve been feeling awful these past few days. I have spoken to some of you and i cant keep quiet. I feel very 'pushed out' lately with the daily spends thread... I took on this thread and the daily spends thread because moozie sadly had to leave the boards and this is a thread that has been going for years now and its part of the dfw board...

now i know anyone can start it however the usuall pattern of the day follows as ~ if i dont post it someone will start it around 10am, if someone forgets i will post when i get home. Now its getting started at 5am  i cant get up then to start it... sadly most of you know i work shifts, thats why people will start it if i havent before 10am. Because of this i resorted back to staying up and starting it at midnight (last weekend/week) which subsequently played havok with my sleeping and put me back into depression which i am strugling to get out of again :( we have also lost our 'daily message'

Now i am happy to pass this over to anyone who is willing to take it all on, i am not too bothered but i feel if this will turn into some kind of competition then its not what i want to be involved in...

    to quote someone ~
There's NOT the same level of interchange and it doesn't give the same message that we're all used to.
Sorry to 'moan' and, as I said before this is NOTHING against x, but the thread is missing your authority
~ i know they wont mind and they will be kept anonomus

Now no doubt i will be flamed for this post but this is my feelings...

I can't remember, :rotfl: I'm awful at this. £1 on bridge toll, £1.10 today on parking - think that's it... Hmmm I have £8.80 left in cash, had £11 so 10p has gone astray but I think that's all.

This week, last week before pay day, no idea how much wages I'm due again, so £9 as that's what's left in my account!

  • I was aiming for £15 but I've spent £19.81. But I did save £7.25 on a pair of jeans that I had budgeted for which allowed me to spend the bit extra. So I think that means I can go green.

I have £12 in my purse and I'm aiming not to withdraw any (unbudgeted) money this week. So please put me down for £12 this week Pap

  • I spent £46 and I think that's it - only went out once! (walking is a challenge at this stage)

However we had to take one of our cats to the vets on Friday - something was up with his tail, he came in after his morning prowl and couldn't lift it properly, poor thing. The vet found bite marks on it
£54 later he had two injections and is on antibiotics for the rest of the week. I usually hate vets bills but by the time he was home afterwards he had perked up completely and so has his tail! So for once feeling more than happy at the cost. We have a small buffer for emergencies so do I have to count this?

If so I don't mind being in the red for my little baby :o

About the daily thread - I'm not keen to get too involved in who does what, but to me it looks like crossed wires rather than anyone wanting to tread on anyone elses toes and I'm sure that communication with those involved will get things sorted to a happy ending. But I'm sorry to hear it's got you down Pap :grouphug:
  • :embarasse I did terribly - £60.57!

I decided to do some bulk baby buying plus buying the 'take-away' ingredients!

This weeks budget for me will be £30. That should cover the £12 spent today on household stuff and Sat night's food etc.

Good luck and well done to those who did better than me!
    £4000 challenge

  • Hi,

I have had a mall diater this week .... I am after adding in todays 13.04 (supermarket) at 107.80    . Not really sure what went wrong as I have nothing to show for it at all ...I'm now going to hang my head in shame.

Next week I will have anyother go ... and aim for £50.00 again but I am it would appear not very good at this:confused::confused:

    xx
  • Aww pap sorry to hear you feel pushed out. The probem with internet communities is that people, just as in real life, can get quite competitive...I dont know whats been going on behind the scenes as am fairly oblivious to stuff but just wanted to send you a hug. At the end of the day is it worth getting upset & depressed over? If someone wants to get p at 5am to start a thread then just let them me lovely! You stay all snug in bed & leave em to it & it's definately NOT worth staying up late for either! I would just leave whoever it is to it(I dont know who it is BTW!) and when they get bored you just start it again!!
Decided to post on here (although I dont normally!!) as a challenge for the week. I'l go for £100 - I have a weekend in Bristol & meal out so best to be realistc for week 1.

  • well i wanna try and let it go but whats the point in having this and then not posting each day as i know many regulers havent? As a bit of a sideline said person registered 8/10 posted on my daily thread 9/10 then started one on the wednesday only with the wrong date 10/10

i am prob reading to much into this... however

I think it's a case of miscommunication hun. The daily thread was always Moozie's thing and the reins were handed to you, so to speak, so I can see why it's bothering you but *hugs* and please don't go getting yourself too down about it.

Maybe a PM to said member?

I totally agree with this, I don't think anyone's trying to push you out. How about sharing it with you posting on the days you can do it in the morning? Don't be staying up late and making yourself feel bad just to post the thread though - or you'll be getting a stern telling off! ;)

Challenge-wise, I'm green this week at £7.30 :) Am expecting a bit of a big spend week this week, need some stuff for my new flat, some fancy dress bits and pressies to take for a halloween party next weekend...ummmm... I'll go for £50 but will try and keep it as low as poss!
