First Utility sent me my final Usio bill "on behalf" of the Usio administrators. It included an estimated (by Usio administrators?) final meter reading which was ~ 32 kwh higher than the actual read that I gave to F.U. I pointed this out to F.U about 5 weeks ago as they were double charging for the overlap of readings.
Their response was to put the reading into dispute - but my latest bill has seen F.U come up with a new changeover reading which is 169 kwh higher than the estimate -so I've now been undercharged as neither have billed for the missing kwh:rotfl:0 -
"We’re excited to announce First Utility is now rebranded to Shell Energy."
FU will, I am sure, postulate that this is the reason behind their terrible service to former Usio customers and why final bills have taken an aeon to produce. Yeah right.
The truth is probably closer to their realisation that the initials FU were becoming an albatross.0 -
What is going on now as Ive just got an e mail for Shell Energy ?
Ive escalated my case with FU last week but not had any answer other than an e mail from SHELL ENERGY ?
I still have no clear idea of what is going on with FU and have had no answer back to why my FU monthly bill was 50% more expensive than the Usio bill.
How long can this carry on where one supplier takes over from another, makes a right hash of it and then changes trading names / owner ???????????????????????
CAN OFGEM GET INVOLVED / SORT THIS PLEASE?0 -
@Posiden
First Utility is owned by Shell (they bought them a year ago)
Now the name has been changed to Shell Energy, there are no other changes and it is the same company as it was last week. So no impact on who is your supplier or the terms and conditions.0 -
thanks for the reply but does my complaint against FU still stand against its parent company Shell or is this another game of smoke and mirrors?0
-
@Posiden
It isn't smoke and mirrors. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAS CHANGED except for the name.
So anything that happened before yesterday is still the same. Any ongoing complaints, contracts whatever are still the same.
MSE News page has an article about it too which reiterates that it is only a name change.https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2019/03/first-utility-changes-its-name-to-shell-energy/
The records from Companies House show it is just a name change for the same company that was formed in 2004 as First Utility.SHELL ENERGY RETAIL LIMITED

So we had a response from Shell..... If we paid Usio up to a certain reading, why shouldn't the start read be this figure?
Regarding the direct debit, we sent them a snip from bank statement showing a direct debit payment to them.
How to proceed?
As the readings are showing as estimated on your final bill with USIO our opening meter readings would also be estimated.
For us to be able to dispute the opening meter reading, we would require two meter readings 7 days apart so that we can calculate and propose revised opening meter readings.
With regards to the tariff, as you did not pay via direct debit with us you have been charged for an increased standing charge as you do lose the direct debit discount.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -

I've been thru this rigmarole with FU/Shell already - it resulted in FU changing their start reading to MORE than the Usio administrator's estimate - I've gone from potentially being double charged for some units to a situation where NO-ONE is charging me for 169kwh - and FU decided I was owed ~£8:rotfl:
I was going to leave it as I thought sooner or later someone would pick up on the undercharge BUT I have just now received an email from Shell telling me that they are despatching a cheque:)
As to the standing charges ,I've been charged from Usio going bust to 2nd November at the lower rate ,then the higher rate from 3rd November til the 27th November when I left -no logic there either!
Not getting too bothered about it all - I moved to One Select from FU -after just over 2 weeks THEY went bust and I got moved to Together Energy -haven't seen any sign of bills from either of these organisations either:) AND I've now moved again!!0 -
To everyone on here who is up in arms about tariffs\readings not tieing up etc:
Work out what you think you should have been charged based on correct readings - if the bill from FU\Shell is less (like mine which was substantially less) my adivce is to KEEP QUIET!0 -

Spot on -amazingly, FU/Shell have sent me a cheque today for the amount they THINK they owe me - the only issues now ,are that the aministrators of Usio could come after me for ~ £24 IF they alter their final figure to match FUs. AND I still haven't had a verified bill for the supplier after FU ,One Select, who went bust after just over 2 weeks with them.0
