Yep - E was the local one, solid wood, curved units and no worktop
We don't have many ceiling ones in reality - that's the bit I kept removing from the design - our kitchen is NW facing for 2 windows and West the 3rd, so I wanted it as light/ unobstructed as possible
(in fact, we actually don't have *that* many kitchen cupboards in reality for a house of 6 - my view being the more cupboards you have the more (mostly unnecessary) stuff you keep to fill them
Bit rubbish that a hotel still treats veggie options as an afterthought when it comes to cateringI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £209 -
You're right of course about filling the space you have! 😂 We're lucky that we have space by back door for separate freezer and washing machine, and also what is effectively a store cupboard for extra food, so don't need as much kitchen space as we might.
Went back and looked at options, and it's probably between these two:
(E2) Local place solid wood, curved units, with separate granite worktops = £9144
(L) builder's blokes, Bought in kitchen, curved doors, with granite worktop = £7384.28
I think we'd go for the second - partly cheaper, partly just dealing with one lot of people (and also not having to deal with the woman from the local place). But I want to see the bought in units before I agree to that!7 -
Wow, Cheery, what a lot's been going on! I was thinking about you, weirdly, when my holiday AirBNB turned out to have a pet chicken who popped in to our living room and did a tour of the tv, sofa, side table etc. So I'm very sorry to hear about Beaky
she sounded a lovely lady.
Good luck with the kitchen - it will be so lovely when you can get it installed and useable.2023: the year I get to buy a car9 -
Ha, how lovely to have a holiday chicken friend! Ours are currently exploring the living room too 😁
Well I am a prize plonker. I've just realised that not only did I send my sister a bunch of cakes to her old house this week - but I also sent my nephew's birthday present there too! 🙄😂😂 It's been delivered and signed for (and was sent from the place I ordered from) so they'll be nicely bewildered 😂
Amusing, yes, but not exactly money-saving- that's £46 I've spent this week sending things to their old house 😮😮😮 😂 For goodness sake!9 -
Ordered the same thing again (to the right house) - told my sister what happened, and she went round to retrieve it, so I've had to try and cancel it again 😂😂7

Cheery, it sounds as if you are coming to a decision regarding the kitchen, I hope you are soon able to have the work done and enjoy the fruits of your mental labours.
I think you should tell your sister that she is never allowed to move house again!
I remember some dire catering for courses etc (and some very good), times when eating the 'garnish' was the healthiest and tastiest option among a selection of stodgy, beige food.
We are hoping that our son will be able to come down to see us tomorrow but he has to wait for his 'test to release' result first. We would all have been going to the Isle of Wight for the weekend had he not had to go to Mexico to work last week. It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.6 -
Shame about your trip hb! Did you go without him?? Hope he makes it to you OK.
And yes, I am VERY glad catering food has improved beyond beige. This wasn't brilliant but it was at least veg and not fried! I don't mind that type of buffet, but not when you're in the same place for a week and that's all you get. This did at least vary (except for the snacks).
Pottering day yesterday. I did actually get the final bits of plasterboard up that I can do before the builders arrive. A few pieces to do after they've been, but I wanted to do as much before hand as I can. I've also sealed round all the ones I can now too.
Cracked open the paint yesterday! I wasn't sure whether to wait to paint, but actually it's quite a faffy job so I figured I was best just doing as much as I can. It's actually quite satisfying, so I'll try to get more of that done today. Getting there!
First though, dragging myself out for a bike ride before it starts p*ssing down 😁11
