That pension news is brill, Cheery - £2k a year? That pays for a bit of a holiday, for sure. Sorry you had a leak, but an easy fix is always good.2023: the year I get to buy a car6

Sorry to hear about the leak, thankfully it was easy to fix and it wasn't over a bit of ceiling you had previously boarded.
Regarding the £2k pa every little helps.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I have already eaten my pancake plans RT, thank you for asking! 😁 Mr Cheery has tightened the radiator nut so we'll see whether that works. I am on the case looking for a heating engineer anyway to do a few other jobs so hopefully they can fix that at the same time.
Been in touch with a couple of people about fitted kitchens today. One geezer is booked up for 11 months 😮 I did tell him I would have done it myself by then... Someone else is coming on Friday to have a look.
Sigh, I do hate dealing with traders 🙄 I'd much rather be able to do everything else, but sadly priorities have shifted in the Cheery household and now our focus is on getting things done quickly and easily, rather than cheaply 🙄 Dread to think what this is going to cost - I have literally NO idea about kitchens at all. But let's see.
I have sorted someone to fit the windows though, which is great. They were about £300 more expensive than the other folk, but I was far more taken with this guy when he came out. Can't do it til April but at this point that doesn't make much difference, and it's not holding anything else up anyway.
What else? Trying to find a heating engineer... Someone was meant to be ringing about emptying the septic tank but they haven't yet. Someone is coming to look at whether they can shift the kitchen sink on Friday morning. It's all go.
Urgh. The reason for all this flurry of activity is that Mr Cheery's health is rather uncertain right now 😕 No firm diagnosis yet, and I'm refusing to be drawn completely down the planning-for-all-eventualities path until we have one, but suffice to say staying sane and getting the house in order is now a high priority, and he's very unlikely to be doing any of the work. I am capable, but also working full time, and not superwoman (although close 😂 ).
So I need to have a rejig of the finances, to see what we can spend on kitchen/windows/bedroom etc (although most of the bedroom is just plastering - the kitchen dudes may be able to do that, or I might have done it myself while waiting in the queue).
Local farmer is meant to be replacing the stable block roof, but nt heard from him since well before Christmas, so I might check if he's bought the stuff yet, and if not, tell him to hold off - that money might be put to better use elsewhere.
Sigh. I must confess so far 2021 is shaping up to be even worse than 2020 at this point! 😕10 -
And it may well be that some of the mortgage overpayments need to be repurposed into house repair or whatever. Not there yet, but I'm grateful we have it as an option. Let's see what the next few weeks brings...9

Thank you for letting us know something of your level of concern, Cheery, I'm sorry your priorities have changed because of this. And yes, if he need to focus on strength and healing, then the continuous mayhem of DIY really isn't ideal. Sending many and constant positive vibes to you both.2023: the year I get to buy a car9
