Sorry to hear you’re feeling glum Cheery! I know the weather is getting me down. But you have just inspired me to find somewhere for us to go for breakfast tomorrow.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Coming out of lurkdom to say I hope you are back to your Cheery self soon and to let you know that I love following your adventures. You’ve inspired me to check my pensions which is a good thing as I won’t be retiring anytime soon unless I sort things out. After wasting Friday morning being uninspired by anything I had to do, I spent a great afternoon galloping through a variety of tasks using your excellent minute by minute timing method. And I’m still giggling at the picture you painted of your chickens blowing about the garden looking soggy (although clearly I hope they were unharmed by the experience).7

Aww bless you Cheery, not like you to feel glum. I am sure the weather is not helping one bit because it is absolutely vile ou t there. I've kept my hens in their coop today as well otherwise they would have become soaking wet. Hens hate windy conditions and being blown about so you have done the right thing in keeping them in the coop. They would only be standing somewhere huddled up together whilst being soaked through and cold. At least they can have a scratch about in the hay which is much better than wading through mud and rain as it can make their feet sore.
Good news on the pension front for you both That will give your finances a really good boost and as you say you will have a nice emergency fund at the end if it. Well done both of you.
Hope you are back to your Cheery self soon. Have a virtual hug from me (((HUG)))

Eek KC, you gave me a moment of paranoia there! But it's a dial on top of the tank itself and VERY unlikely it would have gone from almost empty to almost full for no reason. And there are suspicious giant tyre marks down the muddy sides of the drive... Just logged in to the online system to check - it's not been updated but our status does say 'on delivery' and it was apparently scheduled for yesterday so I suspect just not been updated yet. For now I'm going to assume it HAS been done and deal with it if it hasn't!
Wind is picking up here... Let the chickens out this morning, but they didn't go far, and we shut them back in again about 9.30 as it was just so rainy and vile - they would have spent the whole time just either in their own cosy run or hanging around in our tiny porch so at least shut in the run they're warm and safe.
I feel about as grey and gloomy as the weather today... Overwhelmed and grumpy about everything, and even breakfast in the cafe hasn't helped! I've only got ONE episode of Call the Midwife left so I'm currently feeling quite bereft. Might go and watch that and sew some more of Mr Cheery's hat, see if that shakes me out of my funk...
Take care
Fortune x

Thank you for your kind words lovely people. So often you folks on here inspire me to think about things differently or look deeper in to something, I love it so much that we all do that for each other. Especially love having inspired Vix to go for breakfast! (Although that's probably not very MSE, sorry... 😂 )
Welcome listoflists, glad you've come out of lurkdom, and even more glad you've checked that pension, hooray! Do stick around 😁
Thanks for that TDQ. Our TSB account has already dropped (well, the regular saver, not checked the current), and I MUST get everything shuffled over to the post office, been saying that for weeks!
Pleased to report I'm feeling FAR more cheerful now thank goodness. Hope you are too Fortune. I just cannot be doing with feeling gloomy, it does my head in! Back to my sunny self now (helped by the fact the sun is shining no doubt...)
Having a surprisingly jolly day today. Had a meeting at somewhere near a cafe we used to frequent, so I stopped in for lunch (and cake, oops) and got Mr Cheery a takeaway of his favourite sandwich. Now I've arrived half an hour early for next meeting so sat in the car enjoying the fact that I'm WARM for a change without me being bundled under a blanket!
Poor old Beaky the chicken is under the weather and is back in the hospital wing, but Mr Cheery reports that after an overnight stay and two baths she's looking rather more cheery today thank goodness. We'll give her another night inside and see how she is tomorrow.
It'll be a year since we've had the new ladies next week, which means they're 2.5 years old now, and Mildred and Maud have passed three. That's getting on a bit for an ex commercial hen so no wonder they're starting to get a few aches and pains, poor little beaky pals.

Glad you're feeling better @Cheery_Daff
I meant to say earlier that if you have any paid-for streaming services I can give you a long list of film recommendations based on last year's in-flight viewing! I found some surprisingly good stuff in amongst the inevitable plot-free action movies. And I'm about to start a new round of travel (I really do hope that they've released some more good films since my last long haul trip!).

Ooh, thank you! Can't promise we'll get round to them any time soon mind you...
We've seen a couple of those actually. Really enjoyed Sully (although I agree, best not to watch on a plane!!) And Three Billboards was very good too from memory. Thank you!
Got YNAB half done earlier (banks but not cash in purse) so off to do the rest. Money is just streaming away from us at the minute. Annual insurance for both cars and house, both cars been in the garage, I had to pay £62 at the dentist the other day, I'm going to an even in London in March so accommodation and tickets for that, and on and on and on and on.
Tomorrow is payday, but it's the first month of strike deductions from before Christmas - and we're going on strike again on Thursday so my pay packet is not going to look any better for a while!
Still, I had an excellent evening at running club tonight and now have a cuppa and a hot water bottle so all good!8
