What a pity he didn’t have the right thermostat!A smart meter sounds like it might be a good investment for your LPG so you don’t have to remember to keep an eye on it.

I put an ‘appointment’ in my phone for such things like reminders for meter readings and the like. Like a meeting with myself! If anyone looked they would probably think what’s she up to! But it works for us 😃8

Well you're all very sensible! 😂😂 Not even sure whether there is such a thing as a smart meter for an lpg tank. I check it far more regularly in the summer as I'm out and about anyway - at this time of year it requires a special trip into a muddy field and I just got out of the habit...
Anyway, on a more cheerful note, Mr Cheery's pension forms arrived today! He needs to ring and confirm one tick box means what we think it means, but everything else is signed and ready. I'm going to take our passports and marriage certificate to work tomorrow to photocopy, then on Saturday we'll stick it all in the post and go out for a celebratory cuppa!
He's decided to take the full lump sum. It only reduces the annual by £1600 (to £7100, or just under £600 a month). For us the lump will make more difference as we can pay more off the mortgage (and have more of an emergency fund). He'll get the state pension in 10 years anyway (or whatever of it still exists by then), and of course by then I'm planning on the mortgage being not far off finished, or at least much lower. And in 10 years I'll only be coming up to 50 anyway so likely still at work even if only part time.
So. Much excitement here. I'll believe it when it lands in the bank account of course...11 -
Cue @Cheery_Daff refreshing banking app every 5 minutes 😜🤣😲
excellent news, I love that your going to celebrate with a cuppa (and cake or bacon cob I hope !)
Seems like a most excellent plan.10 -

Great news cheery!!!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!6 -
Thank you lovely people!
Not holding my breath just yet mind you... Mr Cheery spoke to them today to clarify a slightly ambiguously-worded tick box and the woman said 'she's sent you the wrong forms, they should have the figures on'... so now he's lost all confidence in the process and is refusing to celebrate at all. I'm slightly more optimistic - I have a much higher tolerance for tedious bureaucracy (good job really else nowt would get done).
Still, more waiting... yawn. But the forms arrived within a couple of days last time so fingers crossed for early next week. I have passports and marriage certificates photocopied at the ready!8
