    Timed lists do seem to make a real difference for me - otherwise the time just drifts away...

    Didn't end up having lunch with friend as she got .y message a bit late, but I did pick her up and we went to the local town to do a couple of errands each and have a cuppa in a new-to-me cafe which was nice :j Love having a local-ish pal to hang round with :j :j

    Home now so I'm in my 3-4pm segment - best go and get those chicken ladies in! Also it's been so sunny that I pegged the washing on the line so need to bring that in. Can't imagine it will have dried much but at least it'll smell nice :j

    Well, I've done my final crossings-off (above) and I hope you'll agree I've had a pretty productive day! :j :j :j

    Didn't get round to the plastering, but that was because it was such a lovely sunset I stayed out for as long as I could working on the path, got another six stones laid :j :j and by the time I came in I was cold and exhausted and couldn't face DIY too :o Really pleased with the path though, won't take too long to finish it (although I'm not here tomorrow afternoon, then I have to go back to work on Thursday, so it'll be the weekend now). Didn't go for a walk either because I was too busy getting on with the path.

    Also didn't post mum's present - although I did buy and wrap it, but there was a massive queue in the post office in town so both me and my friend (who also had an errand there) abandoned it and I'll go to the local one tomorrow morning before I leave.

    But other than that, all done! :j :j

    Engaged in a stupid (pointless) battle with an online betting shop :eek: :o They're closing operations in the UK, so emailed everyone to tell us to withdraw from both their accounts. I have £5 in one and £3.50 in the other.

    Turns out you can't withdraw less than £15 without incurring a £4 fee :eek: I tried depositing (just so I would have enough to withdraw) - that usually works but because they're closing operations, there's no way to withdraw. Wouldn't let me place a sports bet, and their casino has already closed. Apparently I was referred to the 'technical department' yesterday but have heard nothing and they cease trading on Thursday.

    So I'm afraid I was rather short with the woman on live chat (who didn't appear to know they were closing, and said things like 'but you haven't tried to close your account?' - er no - YOU are closing the accounts, not me!). And I'm afraid they now have a rather grumpy email demanding the return of my £8.50 WITHOUT taking off £4 fee for each of their accounts :o :mad:

    Can't imagine it'll get me anywhere - they'll likely just pocket everyone's small change and get away with it. I've already spent far more time than I should have done chasing my £8.50 so will just have to let it go I think!

    Anyway, today's list has been SO successful I'm going to do another one tomorrow :j

    So - tomorrow...

    Bit of a weird one. We're still on strike - but I confess I'll be going to a meeting :o Difficult decision, but it's part of a professional organisation, nobody else works for an organisation that's on strike. I'm co-chairing, so theoretically could have rearranged - but we specifically arranged it to coincide with an evening event someone else has organised, so they could come to our thing and we could go to theirs. And it's actually our Christmas social, and doesn't start til 3pm.

    So on balance I'll be going (although I do feel a bit odd about it), but it does mean I can't claim travel (as technically I'm not at work) so I'll have to pay for it myself.

    Hmm.

    Anyway...

    7.30-8.30: Waking up
    * quick shower
    * chickens out
    * walk round the lanes with a cuppa
    * breakfast

    8.30-10: Admin
    * finish wrapping mum's present and nip to the post office
    * ring building regs office (again) to book appointment - they said someone would ring me back today but they haven't, and the bloke himself hasn't replied to my email or builder's text. Not paying builder til they've said it's fine so needs to be sorted!
    * ring up to sort someone coming to collect the old car
    * tentatively open emails to check venue and that meeting/event haven't been cancelled (and try desperately not to look at anything else)
    * make sure satnav works
    * pack bag etc ready for meeting

    10-11: Garden
    * lay another couple of paving slabs

    11-12: Lunch
    * make and eat lunch
    * wash up
    * get changed
    * check final directions etc

    Then I'll need to leave I think - don't want to be rushing trying to park at the other end. Won't be home til about 10 so not much time for anything else.

    Won't exactly be a money-saving day given I won't claim for travel, and we're going out for tea :o but I will at least have lunch before I leave!

    9.

    How aggravating is that online betting shop! Huh - with that kind of lack of communication and lack of common sense, no wonder ... I hope you get the dosh back.

    It sounds like the meeting you're co-chairing is your Christmas social? I'm sure there are agreed loopholes for things like that, surely? Even on the picket lines themselves, people still chat and eat and drink, after all. I suppose that hasn't got much to do with it, really, I'm just saying, be kind to yourself about this, you're not exactly plotting a workaround, lots of positive vibes :kisses3: :A

    I've been using the postimage website to get a link I can post in here redo :j

    Well my Christmas social was extremely jolly, although it ended up being a rather rushed pizza :rotfl: Was a bit worried about parking though - I don't know Leeds at all, and when I looked online the ve UO was pointing me towards the QPark place which was £18 :eek: :eek:

    Found a council run place for £7.50 and set the satnav to there - but when I was about 0.3 miles away I found a free space :j Parked in it while I figured out where I was, it wasn't that far from final venue, so I ended up parking for free :money:

    Anyway, aside from that all I spent was a cup of tea and about £6 worth of pizza (we ordered 5 between 8 of us as a takeaway to the meeting room :rotfl: )

    Not much else to report. Building regs geezer came and is finally happy with the building work :j Can't tell you how pleased I am!! :j Paid the final £500 to the builder and VERY glad that bit is done :j

    Of course it's all down to us now :eek: Can't get final building regs sign off til we're fire proof :eek: which means sorting out the ceiling. Tomorrow is pretty sunny so I'm going to finish off the path while it's not raining, then turn my attention to the ceiling...

    Good news about the building regs geezer :)

    Beaming you sympathy on the strike dilemma. I have a strong suspicion that we are in the same sector and I feel much the same as you about having a relatively well paid salary but am horrified with the erosion of the pension and the various inequalities. Our place of work didn't make the 50% threshold at voting time though, probably because we have imminent threat of redundancies and members feel that is a more urgent battle to focus on locally. Another ballot next week though...
    Well done for focussing on positives and things you can control, making solid progress with :)

    I was thinking about your path, Cheery :) especially as you adopted my little-and-often approach :D and I tried to pm you about a particular builder quoting for me, but your inbox is full. Can I give you a gentle nudge to empty it, pretty please? :A Deeply appreciated :j
