Orange ending dialup - offering 2Gb broadband, any good?

I am currently on Orange Broadband unlimited @ £20 month, with allday unlimited phone calls to UK and some international calls.
I use a bt phone line that charges around £45 per quarter to include evening and weekend calls.
Total cost comes to approx. £450 a year.
With Orange Max, including line rental the cost would be £300, with no need to pay bt.
I know there is an 18 month contract, but are there any other drawbacks?0 -

you have to be out of contract with BT or in the last months of the minimum term otherwise you will have buy-out charges incurred to your BT account. (this is with home Max)
You then effectively pay £15 (converged with mobile phone contract) or £24 for unlimited 8meg BB, landline, livebox, 2nd line (through livebox) free calls etc.
if you have a minimum term Contract with BT, you are limited to Home Starter / Home select.

Hi
We've free braodband from Orange in our home since my wife is on contract with orange for £30 per month (untill May 08).
We also have a BT line (necessary). We are thinking of getting Virgin TV, which needs a virgin phone line.. So could we use orange broadband with a virgin telephone line instead od BT?
Just checked Orange's broadband website, I don't think they are doing this free deal anymore where customers with line rental of £30 or more get free broadband, please correct me if I am wrong..
Cheers...0 -
No Orange on Virgin line! Orange no longer offer the free broadband, £5 now. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it is that if you don't have a cable connection from Virgin, you don't get TV down the phone line. They effectively put you on Freeview, which restricts the number of channels you can get to what any other viewer wityh Freeview gets.
They've got the cheek to call it "Free" when Freeview is free!! They give you a free box, but you can get these for around £15 anyway. Have a read of this."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -
if you do go for the virgin option, sign up on-line through Quidco and get £55...0
