  • thanks caroleiw ... since post yeserday I've had a look at some other forums and apparently Livebox phone numbers begin with 0845 (ugh!) but other area codes (not sure which) can be selected from the members center.

Hi - can you tell me what kind of phone number (for incoming calls) you get on the 2nd line with the livebox on Orange - ie is it an 07?? prefix or a geographical or something else ? Can't easily find this out !

They might provide you with an 0845 number to start with but you can change it by logging into your account on orange.co.uk.

I had an 0845 number and I have easily changed it to Birmingham 0121 code.

So far happy with the service.

I currently have broadband and landline with Virgin and pay £18.00 for the 2mb broadband, £11 line rental, a couple of pounds for caller display and the cost of calls is generally about £2 to £5 a month (we are not very talkative), and we rarely use our t mobile mobiles.

We think we are paying far too much and are considering changing to the orange home max package which is £24 for 8 meg broadband, line rental and some inclusive calls. To be honest, i feel that the price is so good there must be some sort of catch but i can't quite work out what it is.

I would be very interested to hear your opinions on this package or any alternatives you can suggest, because it really galls me to sometimes pay 5 times more a month for line rental than call charges, and i feel our broadband is comparatively slow. We would prefer unlimited downloads within reason and would like wireless broadband as well if poss.

    Thanks in advance

  • According to this site, if a new customer takes Virgin's phone service, they get Broadband for £4.50 per month. It might be worth trying to renegotiating with them to see if you can take advantage of this offer.

Hi, I am on the basic up to 8gb speed with a download limit of 2GB. I was on the phone to customer service and asked if the limit only applied during peak hours, i.e you had no dl limits from say 12am to 6 am. I was told you could download onlt 2gb no matter what time of day. For several months now we have been downloading way in excess of that limit but haven't recieved any warnings by email or letter. So my question is, was the lady wrong and can you in fact download whatever you like during non-peak hours?

    thanks

Orange want accept you if you are a Virgin Media cable customer. You need to have a BT type landline to sign up. To get a BT line your need to sign a 12 month contract.

I checked last month and orange were doing free starter BB if you took out a mobile contract, but looking at the site today, it appears that that have started charging £5/month for this privelege. I took out a new orange contract 2 days ago hoping to take them up on their free BB  Has anyone else managed to get this free recently as I will be phoning them up to complain.

I too have Orange Starter and they don't seem too bothered about people downloading excessive amounts.

If you want a higher download limit change to Orange Home Starter which is only £12 a month. Doing this means they will take over the phone call service on your landline using CPS. You will also enter a new 18 month contract with them.
