  • Well done Starmummy I think you're doing great. Your posts are very inspiring and some great info on the capsule wardrobe. I am in the process of adding to my wardrobe slowly as I barely bought anything for the last few years while paying off debts and things wore out and never got replaced. I'm going to take your advice and start shopping to a colour palette and start thinking of my wardrobe as a whole rather than just buying individual pieces that I need or like.

You also sound to be going great guns with your career and all your revision and exams. Hope you don't mind me asking what do you do? I really feel like I am just treading water in the role I'm in I've been here 7 years and it's really not what I want to do but the problem is I don't really know what I want to do :rotfl:

Re passports - not sure if you are aware of the change that was made in September 2018 - you used to get unexpired time added to your new passport for up to 9 months but since September they don't carry any forward.

    Thanks Suffolk.
She is only 9, you don't get the extra time added on children's passports anyway. The 6 months I lose out on of the passport is worth only £5 (£49 for passport lasts 5 years)
Whereas if I don't renew and we crash out on 29th I lose out on the £400 I've spent on flights and hotels for next month, as Mr Star is working away so if she can't go I have to stay home to look after her.

Well the online application is done. An accountant friend has authorised and they have received her old passport. Now it's just a waiting game. 3 weeks and 3 days until we fly.

This weekend was a fairly cheap one considering we were in London. Lunch on Saturday was only £40 and we spent about £20 on coffees and swimming. We packed sandwiches that we ate on Sunday morning to keep costs down.
This weekend will be expensive though as it is both Mr Stars birthday and my nephews birthday.
I feel mean not giving Mr Star something to unwrap I don't want to buy something just for the sake of it- we went on the London Eye yesterday as his present. I have arranged a big birthday meal this weekend and I'll make a cake.

There's been an opportunity come up at work this week and I'm thinking about applying for it. My boss will remain my boss so that is great. I'm going to see if she has ten minutes tomorrow to discuss the role. I'll talk it through tonight with Mr Star. It will be a little more money but my main motivation is the experience. I need more management experience and I think it might look good on my CV to have progressed within a company.
It does take me a little bit away from the part of my job that I like quite a lot though, but it would give me another skill set.

There is no saying I would get it though (but my boss did mention she thought I would apply for it) I must not let fear control my decision...I literally have nothing to lose.

Having spoken to my boss about the promotion opportunity I've decided I'm going to put in an application.
Without wanting to get ahead of myself she was really wanting to encourage me to go for it.

So, so true and phrase I have recently started to use in my own life.

New Dress code policy at work states I must wear a suit or tailored dress and blazer to the office. I have a few things that can tide me over but it looks like I need to budget for work wear.
