    HAPPY MSE-ANNIVERSARY!

You sound like you are doing so well. I like the idea of a capsule wardrobe. I may have to investigate. Any tips/sources to recommend?

Thank you for your support as always. :D

There is loads of info on google. Loads of bloggers that try to sell you a theory and approach, but I think it is a very personal opinion.

    Project333 is a good resource.

My main advise would be to:

*Look at the items that are in your laundry basket every week. These the backbone of your wardrobe.
*Anything that will never fit again, or didn't fit in the first place. Get rid! You may love the print or a fun sleeve but if it doesn't fit you it will always make you feel carp. You do not need that negativity in your life.
*Anything with damage, repair if you can or bin. If it's scruffy you will feel scruffy.
*Do not try to fill the gaps all at once. It takes time and research to get the perfect bits that fit you well. Buying the first "black skinny jeans" you find won't serve you if they don't fit. better to spend £60 on good jeans then £35 twice on ones that are ok- but -not- really- what- you- want so- get -relegated- to- the- bottom- of -your- drawer.
*Do not for a second think that people will judge you for wearing the same thing all the time. 1- people don't actually pay any attention to what you do. 2-having a 'uniform' can actually make you look smarter and more together.
*Try to stick to a colour palate. My wardrobe has a lot of black and nude, It means my wardrobe is smart but feminine, work smart and dinner date sexy, everything can be mixed and matched leaving lots more potential outfits. Honestly I have more choice now with 40 items then I did with 300.
*Do not try to convince yourself that you need things that just aren't you. If suit jackets make you feel uncomfortably like you are wearing a school blazer don't buy/keep one. If you can't walk in high heels, don't buy/keep them.

    Good luck.

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write that out. I have copied your wisdom into my journal and feel a project coming on. I keep putting off buying decent clothes while I lose weight but I am no lighter and feel like a drudge. Time to stop putting it off!

I think that is one of the mistakes we tend to make. I don't deserve new clothes/I shouldn't spend the money until I've lost weight. I did this myself a bit. Some of the things in my wardrobe were a size six...from in the days were I was a single mum working two jobs and too poor or stressed to eat. Society conditioned me to think that I had to get back to that. However I'm 5 foot 7 and I was bl00dy ill. I'm a size 10 now and really really happy with that. I only buy clothes that fit perfectly now. If I ever happen to get back to an 8, great. But i'm not going to punish myself by feeling carppy in carp ill fitting clothes.

I think I have decided, if Mr Star's job move doesn't become permanent. I will start looking to progress my career in the new year.
It may sound daft as my job isn't stressful, it's flexible and the commute is in walking difference...but I just don't feel challenged. I also think I could earn quite a bit more money with a strategic job move.
I've been in this job 17 months now so just past the 2 year mark is a good time to think about changing. Star Child will be 10 then too so needs me a lot less.

Makes sense. That is pretty much why I am leaving my current job (In just over 2 weeks!).

What is plan B if Mr Star's job does become permanent?

Not too sure yet. It's overseas. This complicates things somewhat. If he works there in the week and comes home at the weekends only I may need the flexibility of my current job.
Or, we could decide to move over there. Obviously this would mean a new job, new schools, all learning a new language. A lot of unknowns

I can't believe how quick your notice period is passing Luc! (it probably doesn't feel like that. I know it can be really awkward towards the end)

We are in the midst of year end so the past week or so has flown in and it has all gone from feeling really remote to being pretty imminent. I have clocked up 30 hours TOIL which I need to take between now and finishing too so in reality only 10 working days to go. (and I just realised I said 2 weeks below - it is actually 3). I have a list a mile long of things to get done before I go, not least of which is handing everything over as my replacement has not yet been recruited... My current mantra is 'not my problem' :rotfl: I also deleted over 3000 emails yesterday which was very cathartic! :D

I have also started making a list for my grown up capsule wardrobe - going from an office where even the CFO is in jeans to a place with a formal dress code is going to need a major shift in mentality so it feels like a good time to take on the challenge.

I'm making progress on my to do list:

    * I've done 2/9 essays for my qualification
    * I applied to renew StarChilds passport this morning- it doesn't expire until Oct but we travel next month and I can't risk not having 6 months on it if it's no-deal on 29th. Mr Star disagrees and thinks I should risk it :(
    * will pack for the weekend tonight.
*will discuss the double booked weekend tonight.
