Finally caught up, only to find that I've missed you! Oh well never mind. Hope you're having a fab time in Germany, and look forward to you passing on all your MB tips when you get back. I've got the funds available (just about!), just not the time or inclination to think about it at the moment, so all kicks up the backside to get me going will be greatly appreciated!!0

Hi Karma I hope Germany proves to be the best thing for your recovery.
Take care

 Just posted a very embarrassed post on hypno's diary - I was too embarrassed to come back here to my own! - and have finally managed it, and realised the gap wasn't as bad as I feared....
Thanks to all the posters here! Lovely reading messages, I adore it.
Germany was great, lovely to talk my socks off to my friend - and it can be a bit difficult, staying for 5 days with someone you usually only see for 4 or 5 hours at a time, but it was brill, and her husband is absolutely lovely.
Came back to a leaky toilet (cistern, actually). Decided to replace it with a new one that had been sitting in the garage (my sister's - not her old one  a surplus one she'd got in a package and didn't need), which was fortunate, because when the plumber had taken it away, I saw woodworm underneath. And the actual woodworm must have drowned in the leak, because the wood was so soggy, he put his thumb through the floorboards - I kid you not! Ahem.... imagine the consequences of *not* replacing those floorboards, that joist?????
Anyway. That got me started. Immediately after that, the builder installed a new shower (my mum won't come and stay with me again until I have a working shower, oops) and while he was doing that, I was painting an alcove in the living room that was 3 different shades of paint. I'd got rid of the nasty manky shelves, and am putting a solid wood bookcase in there - which frees up space in the 2nd bedroom.
And I've accepted a quote for the rest of the windows in the house to be replaced - 2 or 3 of them are so poorly they can't be opened any more, or rain is leaking in, so they *really* need doing. The builder will be doing some external repairs as well.
And I can't quite express how much better all that work on the house has made me feel! One of the lovely things about staying in the German flat was the size of the modern rooms, the amount of light, the proportions of the rooms too. I want a nicer place to live in. Full stop.
So the debt busting goes on hold for a bit, and I'm matched betting like crazy as of now - the only surveys or stuff that I'm doing is where I've already done so much work towards a minimum payout - mostly yougov, greasy palm and lightspeed - that it would be crazy not to. The rest is matched betting, when I'm not doing welcome bonuses I'll be learning dutching, because as far as I can work out you use accounts youve already opened for that, and since you use them every now and then, you get re-load offers.
Right! Thats that. So I'm off for the day, doing bank holiday type things. And I'll be back later on for my normal helping, and catching up on things.
Positive vibes to all!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Wow, sounds like a motivated blitz all round.
Well done on the MBing and stuff, must get my head around that.
Very nice to see you back.

Hi Bob!
How nice to meet you properly..... Yep, very motivated at the thoughts of the toilet I'm using crashing through a rotten floor, and windows breaking because I try to open them! Very scary! At the mo, there's books all over the place, because I'm starting to move the bookcases, and need to empty them first - its productive but not noisy or difficult - and at 8am on Bank Holiday Sunday, I need to bear that in mind...
The matched betting will be a godsend. I kept an unofficial total of what I'd earned towards the April £10 a day challenge, even tho I was never here/well enough to enter it properly and this is what I did:
£68.21 Quidco
0.30 pigsback
18.83 Amazon (sold a collectible comic with actors' signatures in)
9.00 gfk for mystery shop
68.00 matched bet with lad dies
33.00 matched bet with be t365
£197.34
So two thirds of the way there, mostly because of two sets of matched betting. They're not always that profitable, but really, it speaks for itself.
Bob, do you have a diary? What's the main focus for you of debt repayments?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
KC - welcome back
, and goodness you sound motivated and BUSY! I'm so glad you had a good time in Germany - I love Germany actually....must try to persuade hubby that we should take the camper there one day.
Your renovation/decorating plans sound great. I think it makes such a big difference to your whole life if you like the place you live, and I think investing money in your home is a good decision. We did the same a few years ago (new windows & doors etc), and whilst we wouldn't have the secured loan (you will be gone in August, pesky debt...) if we had just plodded on as we were, I was so sick of the wind howling through the doors, and the windows nearly falling out when you opened them that I think I would have gone insane.
Anyway, rambling.....lol.....but it's lovely to see you back and enjoy the bank holiday. xx"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
:j Welcome back KC!! Sounds like you are having fun ( ) with the household renovations!! Sometimes you have to view repairs etc as an investment in you... it cheers me up no end when I sort things out that have been getting me down. It makes me feel all renewed and enthusiastic again... on that note I better get on with building my computer desk
