Zed, I was hoping for a post like this... thank you.
"Well I presume you set up stop losses etc? Are they guaranteed?".
No, actually - because I stay in front of the screen the whole time. And a guarantee costs points. Maybe I should look into it anyway. The minimum stake, which is what I'm using, is £1 a point - so, actual money to be lost in reality in any one trade, is about £20.
"It's no good having an ace - if you can never use it. If you have something, but can never use it, then you have all of its liabilities, and none of its assets."
I like this *so* much, its wonderful. I may engrave it somewhere.
"It's only money. It isn't you. If the only way to stop money changing you to someone you don't want to be is to keep it away from you - then you have greater problems than a lack of confidence."
I love that too, especially the first bit. Thats the most sensible, most pithy thing I've ever seen written about money. Um, and the truth is, I still have all sorts of problems leaking out of my psyche....
"All of the learning is behind you. But that doesn't mean it wasn't hard. Everything is easy when you know how to do it - the knowing how to do it is always the hard part."
Thats so true.
"Ignore other people's expectations - and live up to your own."
Okay, Zed, this is another one that should actually be the title of a book. This is an incredibly powerful statement. I'm going to think about my expectations.

As opposed to one full of smut? Naah...those ones are better..."Well I presume you set up stop losses etc? Are they guaranteed?".
No, actually - because I stay in front of the screen the whole time. And a guarantee costs points. Maybe I should look into it anyway.
I think that while you build up your confidence, you should be looking into guaranteeing the maximum size of your losses. The minimum stake, which is what I'm using, is £1 a point - so, actual money to be lost in reality in any one trade, is about £20.
Are you doing CFDs? If so the actual money you can lose (if long) is your stake multiplied by the points to zero. Obviously, short losses are unlimited. Once you get established, you may want to look into buying another laptop with wireless broadband (like 3). You don't want an open trade going if your electricity suddenly cuts off or something.
If you're playing with fire, insurance should always be welcomed."It's no good having an ace - if you can never use it. If you have something, but can never use it, then you have all of its liabilities, and none of its assets."

If you do; ditch the hyphen. I don't know who taught me to punctuate..."It's only money. It isn't you. If the only way to stop money changing you to someone you don't want to be is to keep it away from you - then you have greater problems than a lack of confidence."

So start thinking about them. I'm sure problems like that are amenable to being sorted. What problems are causing you grief?

Well, I like the smutty ones too! They do make me laugh out loud :rotfl: :rotfl: but for this particular topic, one of these is better.I think that while you build up your confidence, you should be looking into guaranteeing the maximum size of your losses.
I guess I haven't because you can get caught out so easily by a quick spike (rather than a retracement) but thats part of the game. I'll practice setting stops tonight. Are you doing CFDs? No, I'm doing spreadbetting. I will be getting another laptop, you're right. In the meantime, I keep the phone number of the spreadbet firm on my desk!If you're playing with fire, insurance should always be welcomed.
Yeah. You're right. Maybe stoplosses are the key.If you do (engrave the saying) ditch the hyphen. I don't know who taught me to punctuate...
!!! Its a lovely saying. I think whoever educated you would be very proud of you. :kisses3:So start thinking about them (the problems). I'm sure problems like that are amenable to being sorted. What problems are causing you grief?

Okay! Seriously, I think I have to. AGAIN. Yuk. And I'm not gonna go into those on the forum, even anonymously - and anyway, it would get banned or something.
Thanks for the luck! :A You *are* a wonderful person, you know. I'm going to sign off and sit with this a bit.
Have a piece of cake for afters :bdaycake: I can't find a bottle of wine smiley.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

KM! No way are you a numpty! I mean, we all enjoy occasional numptiness - look at Z and his flirty posts, for example - I refer to my numpty moments as "blonde", actually, its more fun that way.
Aren't his posts lovely tho? I'm really tired now, so signing off again, but you're right, its given me lots to think about.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Should mix both. Keep you on your toes.I guess I haven't because you can get caught out so easily by a quick spike (rather than a retracement) but thats part of the game. I'll practice setting stops tonight.
The problem with real money being when the quick spike is a retracement.
We are in dangerous times. Best to be careful for a while.Yeah. You're right. Maybe stoplosses are the key.
They will improve your confidence, because they will improve your control over the situation. Which will reduce your perceived level of risk.Okay! Seriously, I think I have to. AGAIN. Yuk. And I'm not gonna go into those on the forum, even anonymously -
You know where I am if you need to talk.and anyway, it would get banned or something.
Naah, don't be silly. If the parties aren't banned - then it must take something...Thanks for the luck! :A You *are* a wonderful person, you know.
Aww...I'm going to sign off and sit with this a bit.

There are no numptys on this thread. Everyone has stuff they don't know. Never be afraid to ask questions.

Sigh.... feeling warm and fuzzy all over again this morning, looking over last evening's posts. Didn't do the thinking I'd planned - doing the thinking thats on here left me really tired, I actually went to bed at 10pm! Even when I'm ill, I don't often manage that! So I'm chuffed, and woke up this morning really well rested. Thanks for that too, Z!
And I have another big topic: what does numpty mean? I never heard it till I came on here. I've been assuming "temporarily daft as a brush"... am I right? Okay, thats as deep as I can get at.... 0735 in the morning.... have a good day all.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Morning Karma
I would say you pretty much had the meaning of numpty correct other than in my case I wouldn't say temporarily
Have a good day
