No, actually - because I stay in front of the screen the whole time. And a guarantee costs points. Maybe I should look into it anyway. The minimum stake, which is what I'm using, is £1 a point - so, actual money to be lost in reality in any one trade, is about £20.

I think that while you build up your confidence, you should be looking into guaranteeing the maximum size of your losses.

Are you doing CFDs? If so the actual money you can lose (if long) is your stake multiplied by the points to zero. Obviously, short losses are unlimited. Once you get established, you may want to look into buying another laptop with wireless broadband (like 3). You don't want an open trade going if your electricity suddenly cuts off or something.

If you're playing with fire, insurance should always be welcomed.

I guess I haven't because you can get caught out so easily by a quick spike (rather than a retracement) but thats part of the game. I'll practice setting stops tonight.

No, I'm doing spreadbetting. I will be getting another laptop, you're right. In the meantime, I keep the phone number of the spreadbet firm on my desk!

KM! No way are you a numpty! I mean, we all enjoy occasional numptiness - look at Z and his flirty posts, for example - I refer to my numpty moments as "blonde", actually, its more fun that way.

Aren't his posts lovely tho? I'm really tired now, so signing off again, but you're right, its given me lots to think about.

The problem with real money being when the quick spike is a retracement.

We are in dangerous times. Best to be careful for a while.

They will improve your confidence, because they will improve your control over the situation. Which will reduce your perceived level of risk.

Sigh.... feeling warm and fuzzy all over again this morning, looking over last evening's posts. Didn't do the thinking I'd planned - doing the thinking thats on here left me really tired, I actually went to bed at 10pm! Even when I'm ill, I don't often manage that! I would say you pretty much had the meaning of numpty correct other than in my case I wouldn't say temporarily
