Thanks El! BTW, I'm slowly plodding through your book - it is hard work and I haven't seen results yet but there's definitely something in it. Still another 7 weeks to go and I'm on Chapter 2, so I might just about make it!0

I know! I know!!! You know what I think happens - I delay on my accounts, so my Christmas cards are late, so my Christmas presents and tree and preparations are late, so my French accounts are late, so the preparation for the insurance is... non-existent. Still have to do the Fr accs - not going to actually *think* about them today, I'm too tired to focus to that extent, but I'm allocating loads of time on Tuesday. The other nearby deadline I have is my reaccreditation to my professional body, which is 11 February. Still, my partner did his as scheduled last August and he said it only takes about 2-3 hours, as opposed to the *days* it used to take before they re-simplified the system recently.
I've also been going something at free bingo, which has netted about £250 so can't grumble too much.
Coo! Well, thats more than these £25 x 4 things from sportingbet, so don't fret hun! Well done you.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Okay, well, this is my own "dumb confessions" post. I've worked so hard on dfw-ing this week, but have actually made loads of dumb mistakes. Here they are:
- the one I've already mentioned, somehow not doing the lay when I did my 2nd qualifier m.b. for SB, so that the freebie I qualified for didn't actually benefit me.
- yesterday, set up my m.b., made sure everything had gone through, and then realised it didn't qualify under the terms of the offer (odds were too low) so I had to do another one, which reduces my % profit anyway, and then I didn't have enough in the pot at SB for the full £25, so I could only do it for £15. Hi ho.
- have also listed this one, that I didn't research renewing my home and contents insurance until the day of the expiry, the 18th. I still haven't actually cancelled the previous lot, which is now active, of course - they're not taking the money till the 23rd, so I may still have time to get away without any cancellation fee, but I don't know.
- unrelated to any of the above. I'm sure I've done a mystery shop to a particular location, and I'm trying to trace it. I've kept all my paperwork for every mystery shop, but I haven't actually written a list, and I can't trace it, so I'm worried I'm going to waste the journey tomorrow, which is about 45 minutes each way - time I can't really afford to waste. I *wish* I could take more care about details....
Actually, from when I was flush, I've got a hemi-sync tape (gives you subconscious instructions) on paying attention to financial detail, so maybe that will help if I play it every day. Did it today, will do it for a couple of weeks while I'm at the computer instead of having the news on.
Does anybody else do stuff like this? :eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just contacted my former insurer. In spite of asking to speak to the supervisor, and me backfooting him three times with what I was saying, they refused to budge. So for that three days cover, I pay £1.11, fair enough, but £20 administration fee! Really, really annoyed with myself at some level - didn't think I was going to get them to move, but thought I'd give it a try, but this was sheer bad planning on my part, the letter telling me about the renewal is dated 23 December, I *knew* something like this would probably happen. I've robbed myself of almost half the cashback I got from the new deal on quidco - if I'd come out worse, I'd have been **really** teed off. I've got to get my act together.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

oh dear KC in answer to the question does anyone else do this, erm, yup yup and yup!! i didn't lay a bet once on OH's freebie with his money (realised before the bets closed though thank god he'd have killed me!!!!)

re the insurance, thats a shame hon, bet you won't do that again!!!

:kisses3: Thanks, Pania! I thought I was in company with the m.b.ing, but wanted to check. I *have* been feeling bad this morning about the insurance stupidity - and you're right, I *won't* do that again. You can only dust yourself off and carry on after this. And I'm still in the black - but I mustn't lean on that too much, thats part of the trouble - if I took that last extra piece of care, I could make 80%, not 60%. If you're dealing in hundreds of pounds, as I hope to be with the m.b.ing, thats a lot of money. Ah well, I *will* learn this lesson!
Thanks again. Off now to check I've caught up with your thread. See you there.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Dumb blonde alert here as well. Must add up to thousands, all the stupid things that I've ever done or forgotton to do, but whilst I know I do them all the time, I can't remember what they are!!! Things like giving refunds on Ebay and then forgetting to claim them back from the PO. Or buying things that I decide to return, only to find them in the boot of the car 6 months later. Or getting into so much debt that my bank won't give me a mortgage, and so having to pay an 8k redemption penalty so I can go elsewhere instead. Now that one surely has to make you feel better about the twenty quid!!!
I FINALLY did a couple of matched bets last night, which we quadruple-checked and think they're right, so waiting to see the betfair balance later tonight after those all-important matches: Mali v Benin, and Gainsborough v Hinckley! Thank you for the constant unintentional reminders over the past couple of weeks that I needed to get re-started!0 -
Thanks Panda! People are kind to tell me their dumb-moments - I do appreciate it. I'm trying so hard to do stuff and get clear, I suppose its inevitable that some things slip, and that its the same for all of us.
Yesterday, I was pretty busy - on the computer for a while in the morning, then a session, then to Haywards Heath for a mystery shop, then back to input the data, then another session, then I'm afraid I collapsed on the sofa after throwing a quick soup together (well, it was 9pm by then!).
Today, much emptier of *external* things to do. So I am definitely, definitely going to do my accounts today, maybe need to post them off tomorrow still, but the work needs to get done.
Just off to check out your thread, panda.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
