BTW, I have to go back to the dentist in a fortnight to get the crown fitted - but she says no need for anaesthetic, and its only 15m long, so hopefully won't be anywhere near as bad.

Okay, a little bit more to say! I've got out of the habit in the last year or so of sweeping vinyl, as opposed to vacuuming here and there (the housework equivalent of "a lick and a promise", I'm thinking now). Well, I just used a new dustpan and brush on the first level hallway and the kitchen, and I was shocked! Even apart from all the woodlice corpses round the fridge, that is... there was so *much*!!! Dustpan is definitely staying easily available from now on.....
And since then I've taken the compost out to the recycling bin and (ta-da!!!) swept the back path - this is where the water tumbles down from, carrying garden debris, into the new drainage system that I included when the new porch was built. And since I don't want the new drain to get blocked, I need to sweep the path occasionally like normal people do...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
   Really annoyed at Nationwide. I made an overpayment of £500 on 1st November (from money my mum gave me for this purpose) and expected, as usual, to have a letter confirming the reduction in the outstanding amount a few days later - I've done this 3 times before, and thats whats happened.
It didn't. It went on... didn't-ing, if you know what I mean. I rang the call centre, spoke to some useless teenager but nevertheless thought I understood the principle of what he was trying to say. It went on didn't-ing.
A fortnight ago come Saturday, I went into the local branch, and asked about it, why haven't I had a letter in this circumstance when I've had one three times before. She wrote out an internal email in front of me, on the terminal, which I approved, and sent it off, basically saying, the usual letter hasn't arrived, please investigate and either send it to the customer or tell her why not. Things went on not happening.
Then I went in today, very rarely on a weekday, was brusquely passed on to another "adviser" barely out of his teens this time, and it finally emerged that I've fallen foul of their whole thing about deducting from the term or deducting from the amount. They should have been deducting from the term the whole time, in which case I don't get the letter, and they've been deducting from the amount owed, in which case I do. Except this last time, when apparenly its been deducted from the term. In which case I don't. He sent an email, which I approved, asking that that overpayment made in November be allocated to a deduction in the amount owed, not the term.
But still no apology for the different enforcement of their so-called policy. No apology for the fact that I'd called the call centre and the branch and had such different interpretations of what Nationwide, in its so-called wisdom, might be doing. I've always had such good information and response out of Nationwide, I'm incredibly disappointed in them: I've done some mystery shops for financial institutions, and if any of them gave me this sort of service, they'd be blasted to high heaven. I have to work in about 8 minutes now, but really wanted to get this out - I may well use this as the basis of a letter of complaint, and also I don't want to think about it after the work I'm about to do.
Okay, I'm calm now. I'm also off again - speak later!!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC, you going to send them a letter about that - seems like they've been really annoying. I was hoping to catch you today, but I've been busy just trying to get the last few work things done before Christmas.
Have a good evening,

Hi folks! Yes, I think I will be, it doesn't matter what their policy is, I was expecting what they'd done 3 times before, and *thats* why it was so annoying! It did work, tho, that I wrote that before the paid work I had planned at 4.30, cos I didn't dwell on it in the evening or that night, just got it out of my system on here!
Thanks guys!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi KC, write the letter today while it is still "fresh" and get it taken down to the post box so that you can "let go" of the stress of that incident and have a good weekend.
