I was reading Chevs advice to Donna kebab, about responsiblities for your own happiness (my take, maybe a bit rambly) and i thought about the things i used to do in the past. It is so true, ithink i am going to lookout for a couple of hobby type activities, i get so fed up of sitting in watching Mr.B fall asleep on the couch. The downside of course is money and the fact the minute i start to do something he wants to join me..that probably sounds selfish, but if i go to mates he wants to come, so no girly chatter, if i arrange a work night out he wants to come...stuff like that really( no he isn't the jealous type, just wants to tag along and enjoy himself) so i am thing Choral singing. He hates that and has a voice like a frog on speed....Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I must have a look at that thread, I used to look at Doner's thread regularly, don't know why I stopped. I was thinking about all of that - personal responsibility for happiness - on Sunday, after reading that free astrology chart thing - the stuff about the north node was very true (emotional origins and directions). A bit off cos not fully personalised, but my issues were all there. Even the old NLP saw has truth in it: if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got. I think a lot of blokes, especially my age and older, rely on partners to provide the social life - talk about needing to take responsibility! Definitely a work in progress, for most of us....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

All right, this is more like it! Finally got round to using the free bet from sportingbet, not wonderful odds, but between qualifier and freebie, I've still only lost £5.59, meaning that tonight £44.41 will be added to the October total, and will be winging its way over to my overpayment account. Ooh, that first overpayment by counting this way is really, really close - the total in the account will be £477.85. And I have a quidco payment of about £16, so thats .... £493.... aargh! Some more pennies from Vernons should go out that way too... I'm going to see if I can hustle a bit more from somewhere.... this is what they mean when they say its addictive!
EDIT - oh! £29 from the new firm I'm mystery shopping for! I've done it!

So true, we are probably similar in age range and Mr.B is in his late 40's and seems ready to put his feet up and retire.LOL. I had to get sneaky when he wanted to come with me last time, so i waited until he had arranged to go to his footy mates house and went out then. Apparently he rolled back expecting his Sunday roast and nagged DS to make his tea... plus he wanted to know the gossip, so i replied that as i wasn't interested in his footy or what he talked about with his boring mate, then he wasn't getting to know anything...he sulked for a week.:rotfl:
I missed the free astrology thing any links?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Yep, here it is Bob:
www.alabe.com/freechart/ - the thread is in the freebies, on about page 8 or something (!) but its very short.
Ah... age-wise. I'm slightly older  .... sob.... not a lot, but these things matter...
EDIT - somewhere in there is a freebie offer for a Krispy Kreme doughnut, which are mega-expensive but disgustingly wonderful. Expires tomorrow!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi KC - good work on the overpayment! I like the idea of having an overpayment account - something for the New Year for me I think

You've done everyone, Bob! Good one.
I made my overpayment today - it only took 3 months to get £500 of real money - some of it is taxable, I suppose, like mystery shopping, but a lot isn't, like cashback and matched betting. Nationwide staff are appalling, they have this thing where the overpayment is applied in the month after the payment is made - but instead of saying that, they make a whole song and dance about it being after the payment - they mean, in relation to the calendar month. I mean, an overpayment is always *between* ordinary payments, not after one single one. Daft. And the cashier was pretty snotty too, I got a handwritten receipt instead of a printed one, with no explanation until I queried it, and no apology even then. Very amateurish.
Good news at Tesco tho - I lost an e-voucher for my phone, and as a good will gesture they gave it to me. I mean, I should think so too, but they didn't *have* to.
And I managed not to splurge while I was there, tho I've totally lost track of the grocery challenge, I'll have to erase it. Still chuffed about reaching target and reaching the overpayment!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi GTD, didn't see you at first - yep, I'm very pleased about using the overpayment account like that. I used Alliance & leicester for that at first, but then the matched betting really took off, and it didn't make sense, I couldn't see the total growing because it was up and down so much with different bookies. So this one, I'll empty it out of £500 when I make an overpayment, and start again with whatever's there. I'm dead chuffed I thought of this!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
