Karmacat: I'm passionate about my DFW journey to riches

Right, one of my other passions is going to get a look-in at the moment - my garden. Bit of chucking things out, bit of digging, off I go. The aim is to have a shady spot de-weeded and covered in bark chippings, so that next year I have somewhere shady to sit in the summer - in the hot summers we've (mostly) been having, I can't actually sit out for most of the day, as every accessible piece of ground is a suntrap. Supposedly very nice, but not with my family genetics, i.e. about ten cases of pre or actual skin cancer. Shutting off now, see you all later.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Yay, a new diary to lurk upon!
Actually, I'm a bit shocked that you don't already have your own - it feels like you should have. Must just be that I've seen your posts on hypno's diary so often?0

            Hi folks!
duchy - yep, he's at Collectormania next week in Milton Keynes. I've met him to speak to 3 times or so, and heard him at other conventions (I did confess on here at some stage I was an SF fan - and I really am!). I've stopped going for a couple of years - I sort of outgrew them and couldn't afford them anyway - but anything for Michael......... have you ever been to an SF con, duchy?
fishface - ah, Michael..... he plays the Daniel Jackson character on Stargate SG1. He's much too young for me, but I think he's great. He's not afraid to take risks - he left the show for a year, and then when it changed channels, the new channel brought him back in response to a huge fan campaign, which included taking out a full page ad in the showbiz mag Variety. And he's quite open about the fact that he only took a role in a SciFi channel movie recently so he could get an American visa - he apologises for the naffness constantly. I like that. And he's very good looking.
chocaholic - glad you'll be lurking - and, I know, my stuff has already been up on the site, but its not been on a thread of my own, thats exactly it! Mad. Definitely time for my own!:o2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Have done the gardening, such as it is - getting stuff thats already been dug up free of soil, bagging and chucking - too many roots in it to compost it. Plus a bit more weeding. I regard it as mse, because in the state its in, the house is unsaleable, and while I like lots of things about the area, and about the house itself, I'm not particularly attached to it. Mind you, I won't be moving for maybe 5 years, but I'd like the garden sorted for me too - that shady place to sit, a few herbs and fruit perennials, that'd be nice. That cuppa tea is still calling, so I'm off.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Your mortgage is as old as me. Random comment there, in that kind of mood, blame the vino. Nice to see you have a diary now No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

See, I *knew* I'm older than loads of people on here! I knew Pania was 30, and, rats, when you were 10, Pania, I was on my 2nd mortgage and my 3rd career! Aaargh!!! Can't help it, I'm the age I am! The mortgage is variable rate, but it was only taken out in May this year - London flat was Halifax, then when I moved to Karmacat Kounty I went with some outfit called The Mortgage Corporation. When they died, I think I went to the Halifax, and immediately the lock-in period ended I *ran* to the Nationwide - I wouldn't touch the Halifax with a bargepole ever again, and May this year was my second Nationwide deal.
Gemmzie - you were born in 1987? Whaa-a-t??? Thats downright scary, it just is. Wow. This is as freaky as finding out how old (young) southernscouser is. Thing is, tho, I'm still not very "grown up", which is actually a bit awkward sometimes, but I'm just not - I have outbreaks of it, and I can do a good imitation too, but then I revert, and my real self breaks out again.
Today, what have I got planned? Um, a few birthday cards (yep, while we're on the age theme, my *younger* sister is 50 tomorrow)..... more gardening, and got some admin to do so next week I can blitz on next year's accounts - like the gardening, not directly mse but essential anyway. When I first started self employment, my accountant was an idiot, and the Inland Revenue almost took me to court for non declaration, even tho I'd been paying estimated amounts. I'm still terrible at getting my accounts in, but at least I have proper accountants now: every year they send me begging letters (for my papers!).2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I've always been a Sci-Fi fan too. Never did the con thing until a few years ago when an American friend was staying and announced she wanted to go to one that was on at Heathrow that weekend. Babylon 5 and Earth Final Conflict -much to my surprise I had a great time-although the Klingons wandering around took a bit of getting used to The fans were a great bunch. Off oop North to do my own brand of fandom (non sci-fi) this weekend in Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle -it's a great escape from the daily battle to solvency (if not very MSE-but everyone deserves a holiday The fans were a great bunch. One of my friends was bemoaning that Ticketmaster aren't on Quidco just last night LOL
My son keeps muttering about wanting to go to a Dr Who Con -I've told him if he can find one with David Tennent AND John Barrowman we'll go (met JB at the BBC in the summer-he was LOVELY-what a waste ) I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole ) I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
